Ferdinand Bauer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 24, 2024.
Ferdinand Edward Bauer, known affectionately as Fred, passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 89 in Henrico, Virginia. Born on November 14, 1934, in Stamford, Connecticut, Fred grew up in a nurturing environment and later pursued higher education at Pace College.

Fred honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958 and was recognized as Airman of the Month in 1957, a testament to his dedication and skill. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a Computer Programmer, where he applied his keen intellect and problem-solving skills.

A man of deep faith, Fred was a long-time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookfield, CT. His personality was marked by a sharp wit and a love for life's simple pleasures, such as watching movies, playing cards, and enjoying ice cream swirls at Costco. He was particularly fond of Frank Sinatra and Jennifer Lawrence movies, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Fred's hobbies included playing California Rummy, visiting the beach in South Carolina, and celebrating the festive spirit of Christmas, which he loved dearly.

He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him deeply, including his sister, Judy Black; cousin Fred S., children, Geoffry Bauer, Terri Bauer, and Christopher Bauer; and granddaughters, Melissa Clark, Danielle McDaniel, and Amber Bauer. Fred also leaves behind great-granddaughters, Destiny Miklos, Briana Rogers, MaKayla Rogers, Kayla Pecor, Isabella Tkacs, and Harper McDaniel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand Bauer and Martha Zarges; his beloved wife, Peggy Bauer; daughter, Lynne Cohen; and grandson, Matthew Dority. He also leaves behind great friends from Myrtle Beach, best friend Mike and Rose.

A memorial service to celebrate Fred's life will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Brookfield on Monday, August 12th at 10 a.m. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him as a smart, religious, and humor-filled man who loved life and his family immensely.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made to Samaritans Purse, in honor of Fred's favorite charity. Visit samaritanspurse.org

We called him (Fred) he was our snow bird. He brought a lot of knowledge to our Sunday School class. He was such a faithful man, he loved his ," southern" church.. First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach and we loved him as well. He had a quick wit and was not afraid of venturing out.
We all miss Fred but we know that we will see him again in Heaven.
Because, he knew the Lord and accepted Him into his heart in his earlier years. Yes..
we will see him again.
His Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach misses him.
John 3:16
Until we meet in heaven Fred,
Much love and prayers go to the family.
