It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved brother Fernando Licea on November 19, 2021 at the age of 52. He was a life-long member of the San Jose community but spent the past few years in AZ.
Fernando, or Nando as he was known by his family and friends, graduated from San Jose High and received his AA degree from San Jose City College. An avid baseball and football fan, he Loved his A's and Raiders. He continued his love for sports and the outdoors throughout his life whether he was pitching for his softball team, 4-wheeling in Utah, or fishing for salmon in Alaska, he always had a great time and made sure everyone around him did as well. He also enjoyed photography and jamming with his friends on the guitar and further demonstrated his love for music by working as a roadie for the Recruits for a number of years.
After many years at Costco, he then went on to work at the San Jose International Airport. As a member of the Union, he developed a passion for fair treatment and worker's rights. His sense of community also led him to become an active member of the King Road and Arroyo Park neighborhood associations. He truly loved helping people and was always quick to lend a hand or his heart.
Later in life, Nando moved to Arizona where he started his own business and became an over enthusiastic golfer.
Nando's outgoing personality was contagious to everyone he met. We are so going to miss his quick wit and infectious laugh that kept us in stitches. He loved to tell jokes and tortured his nieces and nephews with his constant stream of dad jokes.
Nando is survived by his sisters Maria and Anna, and brothers Cisco, Jesse and Jorge. A viewing will be held at Darling & Fischer Garden Chapel located at 471 East Santa Clara St, San Jose on December 10, 2021 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
