Fidel "Kakama" Olvera, 86, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016, in River Oaks. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary: 6 p.m. Monday at Mount Olivet. Kakama was born April 24, 1929, in Mexico to Teodoro and Maria Cortez Olvera. Survivors: Daughters, Argelia Acevedo and husband, Juan, Eva Duran, Adriana Calderon, Angelica Olvera, Concepcion Pozos and husband, Ricardo; sons, Bernardo Olvera, Fidel Olvera Jr., and Baldemar Olvera and wife, Luciana; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Mi querido Tio Kakama, se que puedes leer este mensaje del cielo, gracias por ser el beisbol pelotero de la familia. Recuerdo mi mama platicarmede ti cuando jugaba yo. Que orgullo en saber que llegaste a jugaren AAA aqui en USA. Desafortunadamente yo no llegue a jugar en ni en colegio. Gracias por charlear sobre beis en tu visita a Laredo cuando fuiste a visitar Tia Maty. Te queremos mucho Tio!
