Flavio G. Cruz of Charlotte was called home on September 25, 2019 to be with our loving Savior at the age of 83. He was born in Jourdanton on May 7, 1936 to Jesus and Simona (Gustamante) Cruz.

Flavio was an avid Spurs and Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed barbequing, working outside, tinkering around the house and taking his wife shopping. He loved going to the beach and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Flavio also served as a Deacon at the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Flavio is preceded in death by parents, Jesus and Simona Cruz; brothers, Tommy Cruz, Abel Cruz, Edmundo Cruz, Albert Cruz and sisters, Eva Garza, Alicia Hernandez, Minerva Salazar, Mary Hansen and Stella Cruz.

Flavio is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Sarah (Maldonado) Cruz; sons, Ricky Guerra and wife Jo Ann and Rene Cruz and wife Dolores; daughter, Lisa Miller and husband Marvin; brother, Alex Cruz and wife Minnie and sisters, Linda Trevino and husband Marcos and Rosa Figueroa and husband Pete. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Charles, Michael, Zachary, Marissa, Little Ricky, Phillip, Christin and Leah; great-grandson, Tripp, best friend, Esteban Mateos and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be conducted at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral service will be conducted at the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 10:00 am followed by interment at the Charlotte Community Cemetery. Sarah and family: We did not know your husband / father well but when we saw him, usually at the post office in Charlotte, he always had a smile and it was easy to see that he was a good man and why he was loved by everyone.
