My friend and room mate, it was a shame and disappointment when I heard of your passing. I remember the good times in college, all the delicious meals on Saturdays. I also remember when my son Walter was a "page boy" in your wedding in New Jersey. All the good times we spent in Columbus when you were a student at Kent State. All those beautiful memories still linger in my heart. May your soul rest in perfect peace. We love you, but God loves you most! Good bye friend!

Dr. Margai, you were the person that made me find my true passion and worth as an academic, and I will never forget that. Not only that, but everything that you pursued was filled with integrity, purpose, and poise. You leave behind a legacy and presence that everyone who knew you will always keep with them. I will miss you very much.

Florence, it seems like yesterday that we were all busy having fun as students at KSU, with nary a care. You, always delightful and full of life. Little did I know that the last time that I saw you a couple of years ago, after a long time, that our goodbyes would be final. We will definitely be unable to fill the hole that your passing has left. May your soul rest in peace. To Willie and the girls, I pray that the good Lord grants you the strength to deal with this devastating loss. You are all in my prayers and thoughts.

What a tremendous shock to learn of your early departure Florence. I was very impressed the first time I met you, when you chaired a session and also played the role of Discussant at the launch of the Africa Capacity Indicators Report. You continued to impress me with your sharp insights and deep perspectives on issues related to the "geography of things". The academic world will miss you. As will all who have worked with you on new ideas. Rest in glorius peace my sister. Frannie L

Florence, you left us too soon. We will always remember your kindness, compassion and humility. I know you are resting comfortably, in our Lord's bosom. He knew Heaven was missing an Angel, and called you to assume your place, in his Kingdom. Continue to sleep my beautiful sister, until we meet on those beautiful shores.

A wonderful all-around person: brilliant beyond comparison, homey (adept at making both salad and traditional food, especially my favs of cassava leaves and jollof rice), an amazing and loving mom and just a bright start from a country that continues to endure sadness. Several years ago, I saw a bumper sticker "In 100 years, what you are driving will not matter." Dr. Margai is living behind two wonderful girls, and that matters!! It is not an accident that they are "so wonderful" and humble!! My drives to Hamilton have just been made awful and even longer with her passing: always looked forward to stopping in Vestal.
