Forrest C. Howard was born April 12, 1927 in Boerne, Texas. He was the eldest son of Leonard and Sarah Marjorie Howard. He died on January 3, 2012 in his home south of Boerne.

Forrest is survived by his brother Leonard Weldon Howard and wife Barbara of Corpus Christi, Texas, a grandson Derik Hausman, a great grandson Robert Forrest Hausman, a great granddaughter Seville Hausman, all of San Jose, California, plus several nieces and nephews.

Forrest was preceded in death by his first wife Iris Rose Jackson, his second wife Rosemary K. Jungman, his daughter Bonnie Sue Howard, and his son John Leonard Howard.

Forrest graduated from Edison High School and enlisted in the Navy in July 1944. He saw action in the South Pacific as a gunner on the USAT Maui, an Army transport ship. He was discharged June 1946. After military service Forrest was employed by Southwestern Bell. He retired from Southwestern Bell in 1986, having completed forty years of service. After retiring Forrest moved from San Antonio to Lake Hills and later to a ranch area south of Boerne.
Forrest enriched his life with deer hunting and fishing plus his many friendships. He was known to be fiercely loyal to his family and friends. The St. Charles Guild has been a source of religious inspiration, encouragement, and friendship. MSGR Larry Stuebben has especially been a source of comfort and guidance to Forrest in the last few years.

Dear Howard Family,

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.

Although I did not have the honor and pleasure of knowing him, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.

His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers.

I remember "FC" as the one who shared all his knowledge with me about telephone work. FC will be sorely missed by me and my wife, Virginia. He was a very good man.
