Francelia Morgan HICKLIN

HICKLIN, Francelia Morgan Francelia "Fran" Hicklin, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away in her sleep on Sunday morning, July 20, 2014, in Sacramento at the age of 96 years. Born Francelia Hunting Morgan on September 16, 1917, in Springfield, IL, she was the eldest of four sisters and three brothers, daughter to Gladys and George Morgan, having grown up in Montezuma, IA. In the 1930s Francelia played piano and sang interludes for KBOE radio Oskaloosa, IA, and was crowned "Miss Montezuma" at the Iowa State Fair in 1936. A resident of Sacramento since 1956, she raised two daughters and two sons. After 30 years of federal government service, she retired from QLA in 1995 as TO Librarian for the F-117A detachment at McClellan AFB. Preceded in death by her son Morgan Wayne Hicklin, she is survived by her youngest brother Marcus Morgan of Aurora, CO; children Cynthia Zapata of Coos Bay, OR, Lynn Rutherford and Alan Hicklin both of Sacramento; and many loving grand-, great-grand-, and great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of her life on Monday August 4, 10:00 am at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
