FRANKLIN - Frances "Whitey" Alice (Whitehead) Brassard, 84, a lifelong resident of Franklin died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at the Franklin Regional Hospital following a period of failing health.

She was born in Franklin, May 1, 1926, daughter of Joseph and Evelyn (Bushman) Whitehead.

Frances was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1944. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for many years and was employed with the former Franklin National Bank. She later worked for more than 20 years with the late Robert J. Morin, M.D. of Franklin, and then 19 years with the Henry Trachy Agency in Franklin. Before her retirement she worked part-time with Dr. Martin Asplund, M.D., formerly of Tilton.

For many years she and her late husband were members, and involved with, the Franklin Outing Club, Veterans Memorial Recreation Area in Franklin, and Frances served as treasurer for 20 years. Frances was a member of the Women's Insurance League and Mojalaki Golf Club in Franklin.

A member of the Franklin Unitarian Church she was active with the Women's Alliance and choir for many years.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Amedee "Mickey" A. Brassard who died in 1999.

Her family includes, two sons, Frank A. Brassard and his wife Elaine of New Hampton, and Gary G. Brassard of Franklin; two grandchildren, Joshua Brassard of Missouri, and Heather (Brassard) Stanley of Tilton; four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Megan Brassard of Missouri, and Haley and Ella Rose Stanley of Tilton; nieces, nephews and cousins

According to her wishes, there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m. at Franklin Cemetery, 31 Thompson Park in Franklin. Burial will follow.

Arrangements are under the care of the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home of Tilton. Those wishing may make contributions in Frances' name to the Franklin Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 75 Chestnut St., Franklin NH 03235.
