Frances Grimes Obituary
She requested no memorial services. Her ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean.
Frances was born July 16, 1918, in Donaldsonville, Ga. She had a happy childhood, barefoot and free. She became a reporter for the Tampa newspaper after graduating from Florida State University for Women with a bachelor's degree in literature.
She met the love of her life, Allen Grimes and married him on April 13, 1945. They moved to Modesto, where Allen became the city attorney. Soon the family expanded to include a daughter, Farion and son, John.
Frances was known for her gourmet cooking and entertaining. She loved mangos, champagne, flowers, birds, being in the garden, needlepoint, doing crossword puzzles, reading, and romantic music. Her childlike delight will be missed by all who knew her.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Farion Pearce of Ventura; son, John Grimes of Kodaikanal, India; grandsons, Christian Pearce and Isa Grimes; and granddaughter, Marin Pearce.
