Frances Harris Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 25, 2024.
Frances Mary Harris (née Jackson), aged 77, passed away on November 22, 2024, in Stratford, New Jersey. Born in Philadelphia, she was a cherished member of her community and a dedicated employee at the State of New Jersey Child Support office.

Frances attended St. Hugh of Cluny for her primary education followed by Kensington High School, laying a strong foundation for her commitment to public service. Her career was marked by a profound dedication to assisting families, a testament to her compassion and empathy.

Outside of her professional life, Frances had a passion for traveling. She loved going to Punta Cana, Key West, OCMD or even just down the shore. She also enjoyed visiting wineries with her family and especially her best friend Sherry, enjoying the serene landscapes and the subtle nuances of the vine. This hobby was more than just a pastime; it was a reflection of her appreciation for life's finer, simpler pleasures.

She leaves behind a loving family, survived by her children, Colleen Scully (Ed), Ericka Dougherty ( late Michael), Melissa Guldin (John), Christina Liss (Stuart), Danielle Mays (Ken), and Thomas Harris. Frances also leaves behind her beautiful grandchildren Ed, Brittany, Alyx, Shannon, Tommy, Zachary and Sarah and great - grandchildren Jackson, Harper, Kennedy, Hazel, Wyatt, Charlotte and Connor, her sister Marilyn and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Harris.

The family invites friends and relatives to a viewing Saturday November 30th at 9:00 AM , followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 225 Bellevue Ave, Penndel, PA 19047. Interment will immediately follow at Rosedale Memorial Park, 3850 Richlieu Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020, where Frances will be laid to rest.

Fran & Marilyn are my cousins who grew up in the wonderful old Brit/Scots/ Irish neighborhood of Kensington where our grandfather worked in the shadow of the textile mill that brought him to Philadelphia. Found memories of a wonderful place that is no more. Fran has always been a person who reached out. My thoughts are with all of her family. Carol Cruickshanks
