Frances Kososki Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 15, 2017.
Frances Kososki, 90 of Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, formerly of Moline, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the care center.

Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Friday, February 17, at First Covenant Church, 3303 41st Street, Moline. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Interment will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Frances was born on December 5, 1926 in Andalusia, a daughter of Andrew and Josephine Queen Polito. She married Joseph Kososki in February of 1947 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1987.

Frances worked for most of her life in the printing business, working for DeSaulniers Printing Company, and later at Quick Print, both of Moline. Following her retirement from that industry, she served as a nanny for several families for many years.

Frances was a member of the International Order of Foresters, serving as Assistant Chief Ranger, Secretary, and Treasurer of that organization. She also spent time volunteering at Arrowhead Ranch during their Round Ups and bake sales, and worked extensively for the prevention of child abuse. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Rock Island, and was currently a member of First Covenant Church in Moline.

Frances was a proud Italian mother who loved cooking and baking, and all family functions. She would help anyone in need, and was a true angel. She also cared for her "fur babies," owning several dogs through the years, enjoyed feeding the birds outside, and the occasional stray cat.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Joseph (Jean Simpson) Kososki, Moline, and Jerry (Pam) Kososki, Davenport; sister, Rose Spina, Romeoville, IL; grandkids, Joseph (Lisa) Kososki, Jr., Nathan (Becca) Kososki, Jamie Lyn Kososki Kaiser, Jennifer Ann (Craig) Kososki, Adams, Paul (Vanessa) Garlough, Tim (Kathy) Becker, Stephanie Coulston, Crystal Kososki, Maria Kososki, and grandson-in-law, Steve Kaiser; several great grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter, Emma Ruth Garlough; cousins, Lucille (Ron) Chancellor, Moline and Steno Circello, Rock Island; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.

In addition to her husband, her parents, and brothers, Frank Ansellmo and Frank Polito preceded Mrs. Kososki in death.
