Frances Letourneau Obituary
July 18, 1934 - April 22, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of Frances (Harquail) Letourneau announce her passing after a lengthy illness. Frances was born in Dalhousie on July 18, 1934 to the late Joseph and Adrienne (Blanchard) Harquail.
She leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 58 years, Guy, her loving children, Anthony (Lise), Chris (Joyce), Derek (Sonia), Jason (Josee Rouleau) and Kirby, her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer Gauthier (Luke), Stephanie (Shawn Couture), Jonathan (Veronic Malley), Jeremy and great-grandchildren Lauren, Avery, Joel and Jayden. Frances is also survived by her sisters Joyce Legacy (Valmond ), Dianne Tappan (Dave), brothers Charlie (Yvette), Jarvis (Evelyn), Gordon, as well as brothers and sisters in-law and many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a very special place in her heart. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Jean Carter and Mona Sullivan.
Frances touched the lives of many through her dedication as a Girl Guide leader, volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program, as well as through her love of singing and music while she was a member of the Chaleur Echoes and the St. John Bosco church choir.
Her family would like to thank the staff of the Dalhousie Nursing Home for the compassion and excellent care given to Frances.
Donations to the Dalhousie Nursing Home or the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Dalhousie.

This is for you Frannie - more than an aunt; a great friend and true presence in my life who taught me many valuable life lessons and inspired the woman I've become. Our thoughts are with you at this most difficult time. I fondly remember Francis ... Although she must have been the busiest Mom on our street (5 active boys...at least one dog - Lady, as I recall...and a pet crow - Betsy, I believe...) she took it all in stride and was always so kind, supportive and pleasant, in spite of her busy surroundings - she showed us how it's done...

Frances was a wonderful role model and "guided" us through our teens. I have many happy memories of our Girl Guide adventures and continue to use the skills Frances taught us to this day. Her strength,beauty and courage lives on in every one of the girls she mentored.

Mrs.Letourneau was first my neighbour, then my girl guide leader, and later on, a very good friend of my mom's. She played a mean game of canasta, and I found myself on the losing end of it more than once! My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
