Francis Dineen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 26, 2008.
FRAMINGHAM — Francis T. Dineen, 95, of Framingham, formerly of Bourne, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Carlyle Nursing Home in Framingham. He was the husband of the late Margaret E. (Shea) Dineen.

Born in Cambridge, the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Colbert) Dineen, he was raised in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School.

After graduation, he worked for the Western Electric Company in Watertown and Westboro for 40 years. After retiring in the 1970s, he and his wife moved to Bourne.

He was very athletic and was a soloist in several church choirs. Everyone always wanted him to sing at functions and parties. He had a wonderful sense of humor, something he still possessed even on the day he died. He was devoted to his family and was a very generous person, always willing to help anyone in need.

He leaves his four children, Michael Dineen and his wife, Ruth, of Framingham, Philp Dineen and his wife, Sandra, of Toms River, N.J., Gerald Dineen and his wife, Elaine, of Monument Beach, Teresa (Dineen) Hillner of Carpinteria, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours but there will be a funeral Mass at St. Bridget's Church in Framingham on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 10 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Eugene J. McCarthy and Sons Funeral Home in Framingham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to MetroWest Outreach Connection's Homeless Prevention Program, 87 Edgell Road, Framingham, MA 01701.

Worked with Frank at WE in the early 70's both in Watertown and Southborough. Was by far the best boss ever to work with. He never got mad and always had a smile.

To the Dineen Family;
We enjoyed so much the time that Ski spent with us at CCSR. He was generous and kind to all he met. I so admired his will to maintain his independence. Always a smile and a twinkle in his eye! Always a gentleman! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I never knew Francis but I do know his daughter Terry and what a wonderful legacy Francis leaves behind in Terry as well as in her son, Ryan. They are both strong, steadfast, immovable...always abounding in the work of the Lord. I am grateful to Francis for bringing Terry into the world, and she, her son, as they are both such blessings to me. Our prayers are with you all. God is faithful.

To the Family,

I had the opportunity to get to know Frank "SKI" and I am grateful. He was the true definition of a gentleman. As a family, you all were so supportive. Mike, I miss watching Ski light up when you walked through the door. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

A sense of humor is a wonderful thing. Guess we know where Terry got hers from! Good to hear your Dad had his sense of humor until the end. What a wonderful way to remember him! Wishing you all comfort and the support of good friends.
