I just heard about Francis,s death. He was so important to me in my early life. When we were both in Houston he was there for me as I joined the Catholic Church. Everyone who knew him was blessed by his presence. He will always be in my prayers.

I met Father Francis at Lake Sherwood Village, as he lived across the hall from my mom. He was so good to all the residents as he led mass for us as well as other religious functions for holidays throughout the year. I was inspired by his drive to continue to move forward although his mobility was difficult. As fate would have it, when Fr Francis left Baton Rouge and resided at Our Lady of Wisdom in Algiers, my daughter Carley McCoy, was his speech therapist and worked with him until he was able to start saying mass for the residents at Our Lady of Wisdom. RIP Fr Francis, my family and I are blessed to have met you and experience your Godliness. Thank you.

Mr. Ferrier taught me Algebra at Jesuit High School in New Orleans in 1956 and was the Band Moderator. He encouraged me and instilled a confidence that has served me well throughout my life. I have always felt a great debt to the many Jesuits who taught me at Jesuit in those days. They were great men, they truly cared, they made a difference. I shall always remember and be grateful to Francis Ferrier.

My association with the Ferrier family began in 1954, when I was in class at Loyola with Ed. I then met Leon, Claire and Margie. I worked with Ed at Tulane from 1965 until he retired. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferrier family.

Fr. Francis was an amazing man, priest, counselor and friend to all who had the blessing of knowing him. He was our special gift at Lake Sherwood Village for many years as our priest, pastor and resident. He understood that everyone was a child of God and treated everyone equally. His Friday morning Bible Group and Kights of Columbus ministry was most special and we were all so blessed to have had him in our lives. Our thanks to the Jesuits for sharing him with us and our prayers are with his family who will miss him. As he said "God has a sense of humor" Shalom and peace.

I would just like to let Father Francis' family know just how special he is. I had the pleasure of being in a support group with him years ago. During that time period, he literally saved my life and I will ever be grateful to him. He served God to the highest and I will always appreciate his love and sacrifice!

Fr. Francis was a dear friend, an "adopted brother", and a fellow healthcare chaplain. He had a strong influence on my hearing a call to religious life and responding to that call. I send my condolences to his family, his friends, and his fellow Jesuits.
