Francis (Frank) Joseph Hannigan, age 96, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was a devout Catholic, attending mass at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville, Tennessee. He was a master woodworker and handmade most of the furniture for the church that remain today. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

His parents Patrick Hannigan and Margaret McManus were Irish immigrants. Frank was born the youngest of seven children in Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary, Henrietta, Justina, and Patricia and brothers Martin and John.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. He had a 42 year career with Trans World Airline serving as Station Manager in Atlanta, GA, St. Louis, MO, Denver, CO, and Washington National Airport (DCA).

He was married nearly 70 years to the love of his life, Gerry Hannigan (nee Zable), who passed away just one day later. Together, they had four children, Nancy Cutting (Michael), Carole Hannigan (David Lockhart), Patricia Hudson (Richard), and Michael Hannigan (Rebecca). They had eight grandchildren Jennifer McGuire, Candice Snowden, Natalie Cutting, Michael Cutting, Kaitlin Hudson-Mott, Bailey Himes, Keegan Hudson, and Reilly Hannigan. They also had six great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 2 at St. Philips the Apostle Catholic Church located at 11710 US-64, Somerville, TN 38068. Visitation begins at 9:30 am, Rosary at 10:30 am, Memorial Mass at 11:00 am.
