Francis W. Hodgkins

Francis W. "Buddy" Hodgkins passed away peacefully at his son's home on Monday morning, October 23, 2017. He was 96 years old. Beloved husband of the late Alva Hodgkins for over 57 years. Father of Robert F. "Bobby" Hodgkins (Lisa). Son of the late Anna and Francis Hodgkins. Brother of the late Margaret T. Bootty. Also survived by his step-great-grandchildren, Dewey, Denver, and Gracie. Preceded in death by his step-grandson, SGT Stefan Smith. Buddy was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Harahan. He began his career with Langenstein's Grocery Uptown at the age of 9, and retired at the age of 86 with over 78 years of dedicated service in the meat department. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to his caregivers; Suzanne Lawson, Karen Jackson, and Shatiera Shepard; Canon Hospice; his nurses, Lisa Duperclay, Kenosha Sampson; his CNA, Lillian Rochez; and to his Nurse Practitioner, Vidya Mandhare. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend his memorial visitation at LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, on Thursday evening, October 26, 2017 from 7:00 until 9:00.
