Francis X. Howley Jr. passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the loving son to Carol Ann (Sullivan) and Francis X. "Ace" Howley Sr. Born in Dorchester, he was raised in Stoughton and was a graduate of Southeastern Regional Technical High School in Easton. He later continued his education by earning both his Bachelor's Degree and Masters Degree from UMass Boston. He was a member of Millwright Local 1121 in Boston for many years. Mr. Howley worked in education for many years, starting as a Metal Fabricating Teacher in Brockton, and later moved into administration. He was the Vice Principal at Avon Middle High School and also at Weymouth High School and later became the Head of Vocations at Blue Hill Regional Technical High School in Canton. Franny loved golfing, and spending time with his family and his daughter. He was a warm-hearted person who cared for others and will be genuinely missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him and having them in their lives. Franny was the devoted and caring father to his daughter Jocelyn Howley. He was a wonderful brother and is survived by his siblings, Daniel Howley of Norway, Ryan Howley of Stoughton, Susan Paulas of Hyannis, Jennifer Hooper of FL and Julie Gronroos of Canton. He was the husband to Lisa Katsigianis. Private family services were held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Franny's name may be made to a charity of your choice.

I am saddened to hear the news of Frank's passing. I worked with him at Avon Middle High School. We spent countless hours talking about people and places we knew in Brockton. He had such a great personality and we shared many laughs. Frank built a handicapped ramp leading to our backyard so my son could be in our pool area I think of him every time we use it. He was a kind man, a funny man, and I will miss him. My deepest condolences to Frank's family and friends.

To the Howley family,
Franny will forever be remembered by his smile. He would always go out of his way to say hello at our family gatherings. I remember Franny singing the song Dream Weaver from the movie Wayne’s World. Very happy memories! My husband Kurt played many rounds of golf with Franny and has shared some great stories. Our condolences to you all and we pray that the happy memories bring you peace.
Love ,

A man who loved music, to dance, and valued education: what more could you ask for?
I'll never forget when Jenna and I were at Grandma's on Easter, sitting out front pouting about no getting any Easter eggs with money. (Little brats, I know! Ha!). Franny came out and slipped us $5 each, and we were overjoyed. It was those little caring acts that made Franny so special and the ones he will be remembered for.
We are so sorry for your loss and sending our love.

When I was a kid and my sister would sleep over our big cousins sometimes I always remember sleeping on the floor up in the boys room (top of the stairs to the right) and Franny, Danny and Ryan would be snoring like 3 grizzly bears.. and Ryan would get up and walk around the room in the middle of the night and Franny and Danny would wake up and tell him to go back to bed so between the chainsaw snoring and a constant fear of Ryan stepping on me in the dark I never got any sleep. But it was always fun hanging with my big cousins.
Love you guys.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the Howley family. I knew Franny way back from our grade school days at the North school. Anyone who knew him from those days couldn't shake calling him Franny even though he changed his name to Frank. When speaking to Franny he always expressed a fondness for his days at the North School and the guys we grew up with. I only bumped into Franny a few times over the years but when we did see each other, we always had meaningful conversations and a few laughs as well. You will be missed pal. Rest in Peace and God Bless the Howley family.

My Condolences to all of Frank's family and friends. I worked with him for years as a Floor Teacher at BHS. He changed kids lives as our last metal (and extremely talented) metal shop teacher, and he changed teachers lives with the jokes and skits he added to the end of the year show, and throughout the school year. I fondly remember Lisa's delicious lamb, leaving BHS dinner. We stayed in periodic contact over the years, and when last I heard he was looking forward to moving overseas. In fact, I just left him a message last Monday, in response to a call. I will miss him and have some good laughs to remember him by. Again, I'm sorry for your loss.

I am still in shock. Franny will always have a special place in my heart. We grew up doing so much together as family, but mostly as friends. Memories of Franny will bring a smile to my face as well as so many others who knew him. He was one of a kind that will be deeply missed.

Jocelyn,

Sorry for your loss. Frank was a wonderful employee at Brockton High School. I remember him doing woodworking during the summer for special education students with learning disabilities and autism during the summer when Agnes Peckhsm, Debbie Corvini and Steve Stack ran the summer program. He used to talk to me about Freda's Restaurant in West Brudgewater I remember him from many field trips including bowling, to Cape Cod Canal and Castle Island. He was great to the staff and the students at the LD/Voc summer program ar Brockton High School. He worked alongside many people including Kelly LaBelle, Sandy Orcutt and Carey Newton. I remember when you were much younger and you used to go to BHS on field trips. The field trips were offered on Fridays. I remember the cool woodworking projects. I remember the tools you helped us with in your woodworking class. I know that sewing replaced the woodworking class unfortunately. I remember that graphic arts, rockets and cooking was also offered. Your class was staffed by helpers, who were paraprofessionals in the school system.

I meet Franny on couple of occasions. At one of the meetings, he was switching from the building trades to education field. He had so much enthusiasm for being a teacher, and really enjoyed working with his students. He will be missed.
