LANGAN, Francis William
Was born in Sarnia on September 23, 1915 and passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife Annette (nee Jeffrey) whom he married in 1943 and made a life with her in Maidstone, moving there together in 1959. Together they had five children, Mary Ellen Deuville and husband Gary, John and wife Dorothy, Patrick and wife Dianne, Mike and friend Karen and Anne Marie Smithson and husband Michael. Proud grandpa of nine grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Predeceased by his three brothers, Leo, Raymond and Gerard. Survived by his sister-in-law Peggy Langan. In 1980, Francis retired from John Wyeth & Bros. as the chief chemist after 35 years of service and then took on his second career as a bus driver for an additional 17 years. He was very involved in his community, was a member of Sandwich South Committee of Adjustments, sat on the Board of Directors for St. Clair College. He volunteered for the Policing Committee for O.P.P. and was a reader at St. Mary's Church for a great number of years. He had a passion for horses, reading the daily newspaper, collecting, building and repairing clocks of which he had hundreds, a collection of antique fire trucks, fruit trees and beer. His sense of humour will be remembered; he always crafted a witty response.
