Really upset to hear such heartbreaking news. Mr Nash, was one of my favourite teachers. He made physical science a lot more enjoyable and fun! I loved going to class and seeing him there. Or hear him entertain us with his singing. Truly such an amazing human being. I send my condolences and love to his family. Rest in peace Mr Nash for you are an amazing individual and will never be forgotten.

Mr Nash was one of the best teachers at St-Thomas, granted I never had him but on my fist day he introduced himself, made a joke about my name and we were fast friends. He was always one of my favorite St-Thomas memories and always brought people up. You will be missed and St-Thomas kids will have missed out on no having you greet them in the halls with a your contagious smile. My condolences to the family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Nash's passing. He was hands down my best and favourite teacher ever, a wonderful human being. He made me feel special during those insecure years of high school. From reading all of these tributes , I realize that I am far from alone with that sentiment. He touched the lives of numerous students. Fifteen years ago at our 25th high school reunion, I was elated to to see him there. He remembered almost everyone's name and was his usual jovial self. I was hoping to reconnect again in the near future but I've missed my chance, at least on this earth.
Frank Nash, you will always be special to me. May you R.I.P. although I suspect you are stirring up some fun in heaven.
My heartfelt sympathy to all his family, friends and loved ones in Ireland and Canada.

Such a great man, he helped me in many ways & I'm very grateful today for what he did for me at Father MacDonald High School). I will always remember (with a huge smile)his somewhat wild spontaneous character, his funny (harmless)outbursts etc. I used to laugh so hard at the kids he was trying to straighten up (which he did by the way)... until it happened to me...lol Excellent teacher,Excellent communicator, kind very generous person who I really liked & greatly admired. "He was one of GODS chosen ones. Chosen to give ,to help others , to spread kindness, respect, love & joy throughout his life. God bless you Mr.Nash may you rest in peace.

I was privileged to have met him during the very crucial teenage years at MRCHS. He was more than a teacher ... he was a sports coach (and life coach to me) and a mentor. He was very much attuned to the people around him and always knew when I needed help. So many hours spent at the library whether I was his student or not. His constant support, encouragement and honesty never wavered. He genuinely cared and always did more than was required. I felt like he had never forgotten what it was like being a teen and knew what we were struggling with. Being a teacher was not just a job for him, it was his life and he lived it with a passion. A beautiful man, inside and out, who will live on in my memories. His spunk, positive energy, the twinkle in his eye and his mischievous smile will always be remembered.
Thank you for being there 1977-1982. Gail
My sincere condolences to his loved ones and thankful that he was in his beloved homeland. RIP Mr. Nash.

I was blessed to have Frank Nash, as my teacher through all my high school years! Broomball coach and mentor, a person you could turn to for a math question or a life question! My most heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to all of Frank's relatives and family.
I had the honor and privilege of working with Frank for many years at St. Pius X Comprehensive H.S. in Montreal. We first met at the annex in 1968 or 1969. Always the professional, Frank was at his best in the classroom, but he also shone brightly at school activities, our social eat-ins (conferenzas), student-teacher bowling league, our after-work gatherings at Le Tonneau, the pasta sauce contest at Pius, our friendly poker games, and the time he and the boys came up to my parents' chalet in the Laurentians. How can anyone not remember a man with such spunk, such a great sense of humor, and such dedication to his job and his students!
Although it's been a while since I saw Frank, his sense of humor has left a lasting mark. Frank, you will be very sadly missed. Rest in peace, my friend.

The ancient Greeks didn't write obituaries, they only asked one question after a man died: Did he have passion?
- Mr. Nash had the ability to make you feel special by the simplest gestures. He was the man who took me aside one day and taught me how to make my first Windsor knot. To this day, every time I put on a tie I think of you Francis.
- Mr. Nash told me my first teacher-student dirty joke on a school bus as we rode back from a ski trip in the Laurentiens. We were sitting next to each other on the bus and on that ride back he wasn't my teacher, he wasn't someone of authority, he wasn't someone older than mehe was my equal, my friend, my big brother. His joke was appropriate, hilarious and memorable. Thanks to you Francis I use your joke and get the same reaction.
- Mr. Nash tutored some six secondary five male students in the basement of an Egyptian friend, whose name shall remain anonymous, and I was one of those six. He was preparing us for our provincial math exam which we all needed help with. He did this on his spare time and for those who don't know; he was our chemistry teacher. Francis you showed me what it meant to be a man for others. Today I try to give of myself whether it be coaching hockey or volunteering.
- Mr. Nash took the time to pay his respects at my father's funeral back in December of 2003. He didn't know my father and hadn't seen my sister, brother or I in years. Francis I wish I could have done the same but I want you to know that I was there in spirit. By the way; can you do me a favor? When you see my old man up there, tell him we're all doing fine and have a stiff drink with him.
- Mr. Nash was short in stature but had the heart of a giant. Francis, you nicknamed me Ti-Bougie by the time I got to grade 7 and I tried to live up to it by being the same little spit fire that you were.
I think the Ancient Greeks asked that very simple yet profound question because it probably was what they believed to be the measuring stick of a life well lived.
Francis Nash embodied passion. His positive energy enlightened his students, his love of life was evident in everything he did, and his infectious smile let you know that everything was going to be ok.
Francis Nash was one of those people who, if you were fortunate enough to know him, left a mark and will be greatly missed by many.
Frank, thanks for being my teacher, a mentor and, if I may indulge, a friend. Take care Sir.

Dearest Mr. Nash,
You were my science and biology teacher at Mount Royal Catholic High School and you made me crave the sciences. You nurtured my curiosity and even when you told me to stop raising my hand , I listened intently at your lessons. You were loved by all the students and really connected with us. You were one of the only teachers who gave the impression that you remembered being a young student yourself. You will be missed but never forgotten.
Rest in peace my friend.

Thought it's been 39 years since I left Pius X high school, I immediately felt a jolt upon seeing Mr Nash's obituary in the gazette. I was instantly transported back in time to my after school chats in the chemistry lab with a teacher who encouraged and strengthened my love of science and chemistry. The picture of him in the paper is of a younger man than when he taught me, but the smile and warmth was unmistakable. To this day, I would quote him to my daughters who are just now in elementary and early high school. He was dedicated, self less and passionate. He truly made a difference in shaping me as as a student. I was too uncomfortable to speak up in class and so I would find myself after school in his labs reviewing learning and enjoying private discussions on the wonders of chemistry. He was without a doubt one of two teachers who left an indelible mark on me. May his family take comfort in the fact that he truly made a difference in this world.

My condolences to the family. I will always remember him for his bountiful energy be it in the classroom, the arena, or on the ski hills in Quebec. His love for all things Irish was contagious. He was much more than a teacher of math and chemistry, he taught us to be confident, to be passionate, generous and kind. He was a friend who made us feel special and helped us through the sometimes awkward teenage years. Cheers Mr Nash. RIP.

I shed a tear tonight for my favourite high school teacher who taught me math and chemistry. Because of him I went on to study Chemical Engineering. Though I was not a great engineer he gave me the confidence to challenge myself and it changed my life. Our common Irish heritage created a natural bond. We last saw each other at our 25th high school reunion. I know I'll see him again some day over a Guiness.

Our heart goes out to the family. We were the twins at St. Pius X HS and in recent years Mary would sometimes serve him at RBC in Beaconsfield...he always had time for a chat and no matter how many years go by he will always be Mr. Nash to us. We'll miss seeing you at the HS reunions and we take comfort knowing that you are in a better place now. The mentoring of students was your gift to the world and we will forever be grateful for having known you in our most formative years and then getting lucky again reconnecting years later. Thanks Mr. Nash for everything and keep mentoring the future generations from "up there". Much love to the family.
