Fran will always have a special place in my heart.
Fran, my father, Leonard Tower, and Everett Sampson, years ago, started a reunion for the ARMY Reserve Unit they where in here in Binghamton, the 3/3/392nd. I have so many memories of spending hours going thru old ARMY records, looking for member's of the 392nd, going to Fran's place when he lived in Harpursville for the reunions.
After the flood of 2006, my father told me that he bought the lawn tractor Fran had out back of his property, for $150. I still have that to this day, and still use it, and I've never stopped even thinking about where that tractor came from, and who owned it before I did, and that was Fran.
He was a great friend to my father, and I remember my dad telling me when he went and helped Fran moved to FL, and went down there and stayed. It was really amazing for Fran and his wife to allow my father to do that, and he talked about that for YEARS after that.
Fran presented me with a plaque for my efforts gathering information for the reunion, which was a passion Fran had, and so did I. That was an amazing thing that Fran did for me, and I never expected it, and I'll never forget it.
Fran would love to know, and I didn't have a current contact number for him, but this year I am putting a reunion back together for the member's of the 392nd, and this year....It's for sure going into Fran's memory.
My cell phone number is 607-372-1403, I know Fran would be okay with me telling everyone about a reunion this year. And for Fran's family, I'll make sure they'll get in for free.
Rest In Peace Fran, you were a huge influence in my life, I'm glad to know you.
