Obituary:

Francisca "Fran" V. Derrick, 76, of Downingtown PA, passed away on February 10, 2024. Born in Brazil, she was the daughter of the late de Francisco Vieira Carneiro and Maria da Conceicao Silva. Francisca, also known as Fran, was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Derrick, to whom she was married for 51 years.

She had the biggest smile and laugh that captured anyone she came in contact with. Fran was a great and loyal friend, known for her warm personality and kind heart. Her greatest accomplishment was being a devoted mother to her son, Mathieu.

Fran was an antique collector and seller, owning her business "Frantiques." She also enjoyed gardening.

A memorial and burial service will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date, where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband. Fran is survived by her loving son, Mathieu J. Derrick.

Francisca will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her love and kindness. May she rest in peace.

I´m sorry to hear of Fran´s passing. Fran was a wonderful neighbor to my parents, Mary and Irv Geschwindt and my sister Karen. She would check in with my mother after my father died. After my sister Karen died, she adopted Karen´s cat and took great care of her. My sister, Sue and I would drive down the alley past our old homestead often and also look for Fran. I will miss seeing her puttering around her backyard amongst her many great finds. And I will miss her smile and cheery hello!

I grew up with Francisca as a part of our family. She was an older sister to me. Her sweet nature and kind heart were felt by everyone she met. Francisca was a caring aunt to my children. I feel fortunate to have shared a family bond with such an amazing woman. In 2021 Francisca asked me to help with Richard´s passing. I promised her and Richard that I will always be there for Mathieu. Francisca was a devoted wife, mother, and sister.
