Frank Alegre Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 30 to Apr. 5, 2018.
Frank C. Alegre passed away on March 25, 2018 in Lodi, California. Frank was born March 2, 1935 in Stockton, California to Joe and Vera Alegre. Raised in Tracy, California, he graduated from Tracy High School in 1950. Frank worked on the family dairy, and his father gave him the choice to go to college or get a new car. He chose the new car.
Frank met his wife, Helen Mayer, of Lodi in 1955 in Stockton, California. They soon eloped and were married on October 22, 1955. After working on the dairy for a couple of years, Frank decided it was not for him. He became a salesman for Stockton Hay and Grain and then Happyholm Feed in Lodi. Frank and Helen moved to Lodi in 1960. After selling feed for a few years, he bought his first truck in 1963. Frank's business grew from 1 truck to several in the 1960's, and in 1973 he incorporated his business to what it is today: Frank C. Alegre Trucking, Inc. Frank's business grew due to his hard work and keen vision. He was creative and dedicated in his quest to become one of the largest family-owned trucking companies in Northern California. Frank had a no-nonsense attitude and was an extremely driven person. You always knew where he stood on issues, and he was outspoken and passionate about the things for which he cared.
In addition to his love for business, Frank's love for family always came first. He coached numerous Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football teams. He was a member of the Lodi Boat and Ski Club, an original member of the BOBS organization, and a member of the Elks Lodge for 49 years. He served on several City of Lodi Committees, and served in the National Guard. Frank was a dynamic person with a heart of gold once you got to know him.
Frank will be greatly missed by his sons, Frank Jr, Anthony (Kellie), and Gary; and grandchildren, Andress (Lacey), Audrey Georguson (Paul), Adrienne Sanchez (Mike), Adeline, Shandi Hunt (Jeff), and Alexander (Austin). He also leaves behind his great grandchildren, Sawyer and Sedona Alegre; Michael, Anthony and Mila Sanchez; Brighton and Briggs Georguson; Asen, Nova, and Emery Hunt; and Hayleigh, Madison, and Carson Alegre, siblings Dorothy Gonsalves, Bernice Gill (Joe), Dennis Alegre (Alice), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Helen Alegre, brother Joe Alegre, and nephew John Gonsalves.
Friends and family are invited to attend visitation on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 12-8pm and Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 2-8pm with a Vigil service at 6:30pm at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd in Lodi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St in Lodi. I remember an old friendship with Frank growing up. When I left Stockton to join the military we lost touch. But I never forgot him and his wonderful outlook on life. He was a good friend and I always missed him after I went away. All the best and may he rest in peace.

Tony, Gary and Frank, our deepest condolences on the passing of your father. He was a strong mentor that seen the potential in so many people throughout his life. I was fortunate to spend time with Frank "learning the ropes" as he would say. I am a better man because of the Alegre family. I owe Frank and Helen a life-long gratitude for being such great mentors and for the opportunity to learn so much about life. I'll miss you buddy....

I am deeply saddened by Frank's passing. He was very influential in my early life, my teens, 20's and beyond. Frank taught me many life skills. I've always loved and respected both Frank and his wife, Helen, and how they touched my life.

Frank was a a man with a solid work ethic. He taught me to always do a good job at whatever I was working. He taught me to drive a truck and trailer, and truck loader, as well as many processes involving equipment and preparedness.

Frank and his family always included me as a youngster in their family outings, camping and water-skiing, for which I am so grateful.

My sincerest condolences to the family.

Praying for Frank Jr., Gary, Tony and family!

April 3, 2018

Frank Jr., Tony, and Gary,

I have such great memories of all the families growing up on Locust Street. Your mom secretly helping me plan a surprise party for my mom, all you boys (including my brothers) washing your dad's truck on the weekends. He was a bold man, with strong beliefs who loved his family dearly. I sit here with a smile, thinking how we could hear him all the way down the street - he was fierce and wanted the best for his children. Those times make up the fabric of my life - with that, I say thank you Frank and Helen Alegre for being great role models as parents and community members - for giving not only your children but many other Lodi children support and attention through the years. Sending prayers to your family, thinking of you all now and always. Cindy Hutmacher Hill

Dear Tony, Gary & Frank:

I will miss my dear friend Frank dearly as we talked pretty regularly every 2-3 weeks. I am saddened and shocked to learn about his passing as I spoke to him just 3 weeks back. He sounded usual Frank with a great sense of humor. There was no sign of him leaving us so suddenly. He was truly a great family man caring so deeply and proud of all of you. I will cherish his memories forever.

Thank you for beautifully written tribute depicting his life journey. God Bless him, my thoughts and prayers are with you all during these difficult times.

Tony,
So sorry to hear of Franks passing. May he Rest now. I know Frank had a big bark but his heart was bigger. I admired & will always remember the way he cheerfully donated to Lodi Adopt a Child. I believe he had bought 75 or more bike this 1 year. He said I don't mind helping the women & children, but the men need to get out there and work! God blessed Frank in many ways. Peace to all of his family.
