Frank Amodeo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 25, 2014.
Frank Phillip Amodeo passed away at the age of 74 in Orlando, Florida. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan in 1939. Frank was the son of Luigi and Mary Grace (Talarico) Amodeo. He had a life long love of baseball, and as a kid, he would clean seats at the old Briggs Stadium so he could watch his beloved Detroit Tigers. Having a beautiful singing voice, Frank joined with three other classmates from Highland Park High School to form "The Four Imperials." The group was picked up by Fox Records and recorded many popular songs such as "My Girl" and "Lazy Bonnie". In 1965, Frank and his wife, Margaret Ann, moved to the Orlando area. Frank dedicated an extraordinary amount of time and effort to the Pine Castle Little League; organizing, raising sponsorships and coaching. One of his teams made it to the Little League World Series in Japan. He is responsible for motivating many of his players to have careers in baseball. Frank worked as a craftsman and entrepreneur in the woodworking business until the time when he became a substantial contributor to the class action suit by the smoking victims against the tobacco industry. Cancer caused Frank to not be able to eat or drink for his last 30 years so he wanted to ensure that others would not suffer his fate. Even with his own medical struggles, he dedicated himself to take care of his wife of 54 years, Margaret, after she was immoblilized by two strokes; and he was always at her side. All who knew Frank considered him to be the classic, "nice guy" with his nonjudgmental manner in which he treated everyone. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Louis Michael Amodeo. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Debbie Amodeo Milotte and two sons; Frank L. Amodeo and Dean Patrick Amodeo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank's memory to: St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital-262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 901-595-3300
