Frank L. Burke IV, 37, of Scranton, passed away Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 at Regional Hospital of Scranton after being stricken ill.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Frank L. III and Mary Alice Boylan Burke and a member of St. Ann's Parish. He graduated from Bishop O'Hara High School class of 2003 and attended Lackawanna College.
Always a hard worker, Frank worked as a maintenance supervisor with the Scranton School District and was a proud member and vice president of the local SEIU 32BJ. Deeply proud of his Irish heritage, he was a devoted member of the St. Patrick's Parade Association of Lackawanna County.
Frank was everyone's friend, the life of the party, biggest Notre Dame and Colts fan, whose love of family, joy of life and memory will live forever. Frank touched many lives during his short time on earth and leaves behind, in addition to his parents, his loving sister, Shannon Burke; paternal grandmother, Jane T. Burke; aunts and uncles, Jane Burke, Ann Calpin, Michael and Frank Boylan, Anne Boylan and Dom Lanzo; cousins, Michael Boylan, Casey Calpin Zaffino, Jamie Jeffers, Kaleena Lewis, Liam Boylan; and many more cousins and countless dear friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Seamus Patrick; maternal grandparents, Michael F. and Alice Boylan; paternal grandfather, Frank L. Burke Jr.; uncles, Paul Boylan, Jimmy Calpin and Jim Fox.
Everyone remembers Frank as being a kind, loving and giving man. Even with that, his final act of kindness and the last gift he gave was to the Gift of Life Donor Program.
Friends may call Wednesday, 3 to 8 p.m., at the Donahue Funeral Home, 303 S Main Ave., Scranton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St Ann's Basilica, 1250 St. Ann's St., Scranton, with the family greeting friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow after the Mass in Cathedral Cemetery.
All visitors are asked to kindly wear a mask. To honor Frank, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org; or the American Sleep Apnea Association's CPRP Assistance Program, www.sleep

There are so many things that can be said about Frank and not a single one of them bad. I've known Frank for a long, long time and I've never once heard a cross word about him from anyone. Quite the contrary. Every time his name would be mentioned, nothing but adoration from everyone who knew him. I can say with certainty that his presence will forever be missed by all who knew him. But, with every memory a smile will inevitably replace the sorrow as we remember what an incredible human he was. Everyone could take a lesson or two from Frank, on just how to be truly and wholly a decent human.

Dear Mary Alice and Frank,
Please accept our deepest sympathy on the passing of your son Frank IV. Children are truly a gift from God. In Genesis 48.9 Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God has given me here. So he said bring him to me please, so I may bless him. Frank has been blessed now by the Lord. May he Rest in Peace and God speed to you both and your entire family.
