Frank Bradford "Bucky" Herring passed away on May 18, 2025, in Keyser, West Virginia.

A graveside ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Oxford Memorial Cemetery (464 N 16th St. Oxford, MS, 38655). Arrangements are being made by Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford; the Rev. David Ard will officiate. The public is invited.

He was born June 5, 1948, in Washington DC, to Robert A. Herring Jr. and Alice K. Fisk Herring. In December 1957, he moved with his family to Oxford, Mississippi, where his father accepted a position at the University of Mississippi ("Ole Miss") to start the Electrical Engineering Department and become its first chairman.

He and Bob were both members of Boy Scout Troop 44, and regularly attended summer camp at Camp Yocona. Both were selected the same summer as members of the prestigious Order of the Arrow.

Buck graduated from Oxford High School in 1966. He took coursework at the University of Mississippi and Montreat-Anderson College. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oxford. Later in life he attended the Maryland Central Korean Baptist Church in Millersville MD for a number of years.

He left Oxford in 1975, moving back to Washington DC. During his lifetime he also lived in several other locations including Buckeystown MD, Millersville MD, and most recently in Keyser. He helped take care of his mother in her later years after his father passed away.

Buck had a love for nature, especially animals. Until his later years he always had multiple dogs, including beagles and chihuahuas. He also loved turtles and other small animals. He was also interested in astronomy and enjoyed conversing at any time with anyone on just about any topic, from solar energy to nuclear fusion, politics, religion, photography, sociology or psychology.

Buck was an excellent gardener. He was also an accomplished photographer, decades before the advent of photoshop. A Mississippi sunset photo of his was run in full color above the fold in the Sunday edition of the Clarion-Ledger In the early 1970s.

He is survived by his older brother Bob (late wife Gail), sisters Robin Bibby (husband Randy) and Suzanne LeBlanc (husband Andre), and younger brother Ben (wife Jolly).

He was predeceased in death by his parents.

The family wishes to acknowledge the generous assistance and Christian love of Ted and Sara Kanamine of Old Fields, West Virginia. They were instrumental in the care and support of Buck during his final months, especially given some injuries that he had sustained. Prior to that, the honorable Roscoe Barlett (R-MD) also extended Christian love, providing him lodging in Buckeystown.

The staff at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is honored to serve the family during this challenging season of life. Condolences may be expressed online on his Tribute wall at www.colemanfuneralhomeox.com.
