Frank Jozwiak, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 25 to Aug. 26, 2023.
Frank Anicetus Jozwiak, Jr., 80, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023 in Phoenix.

He was born on April 17, 1943 to Victoria and Frank Jozwiak, Sr. in Chicago. He was an only child.

After graduating from Trinity High School in 1961, Frank attended the University of Loyola-Chicago, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a focus in product management. In September 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he split his time between active duty and the National Guard.

Frank met the love of his life, Josephine Zanoni, at Sears, where he worked in the mail room and she was a secretary. When Frank originally asked Josephine out on a date in 1965, she turned him down. However, after another attempt, she agreed. (He was persistent!) Frank married Josephine on Oct. 22, 1966, at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Chicago, and they honeymooned in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Frank was honorably discharged from the Army in November 1970. Two years later, he and Josephine moved to Arlington Heights, where they purchased the home they lived in for more than 47 years and raised their four children.

Frank worked for Motorola for 32 years. He served as manager of physical distribution operations and regularly traveled to Canada, Europe, and Asia for his job.

Frank was a man of integrity. He was a beloved father figure to many, including his children's friends. They remember him being a great teacher and coach and having a bottomless well of patience. He was punctual, fiercely loyal, and always dependable, making friends wherever he went. He established great relationships with not only his barber and grocery store butcher but also with Walgreens managers and Andy's Ice Cream team members.

Frank retired from Motorola in 1998. He and Josephine moved to Phoenix in 2019.

Frank enjoyed outdoor activities like hunting, shooting, and fishing. He loved history, trivia, cooking, ice cream, and spending time with his seven grandchildren. Above all, he felt that his family was his greatest accomplishment in life.

Frank is survived by his wife, Josephine; his son, Jeff (Heather); his daughter, Jackie; his son, Kevin (Erin); his son, Brian (Kristy); his grandchildren (Rebecca, Rachel, Ellie, Ryan, Josh, Jack, and Benjamin); and many close family members and friends who will miss him dearly but also fondly remember his stories, sayings, advice, and warm personality.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Victoria.

A memorial service for Frank will take place Wednesday, August 30, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E. Knox Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85044. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the service will follow at 10 a.m. A luncheon to celebrate Frank's life will take place after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank A. Jozwiak, Jr. could be made to Franciscan Friars, Phoenix Rescue Mission, or St. Mary's Food Bank.

I awoke today at 3am remembering my Motorola work with Frank and Arnie Brenner, to improve the functionality of the International Distribution Center in approx 1979-1980. Frank called me The Kid. I left Motorola in that year and began my sojourn in data processing and banking. But i remember our good times together and the counsel of Frank, under the benevolent guidance of Arnie. We were a great team. Larry G. Fendley, Paris TX, retired.

I met Frank through his wife lovely wife Josephine. The prayer group often met up after Mass at Deerfield's bakery. Frank shared his deep Catholic
faith very simply: Keep your eyes focused on Jesus.

Jozwiak family,
I am so saddened for your loss. Although I´m not physically there with you, know your family is in my heart and in my thoughts and prayers.

For those who don´t know, growing up, Frank was like a second father to myself and my brother Mike (not to mention all our friends). Going up to the U.P., hitting Fudruckers, TCBY or the gun range on the weekend was the norm and he always made myself and all of our friends welcome. From teaching us hand to hand combat in the back yard as kids when we thought we were ninjas or going to see Batman at the theater, he always wanted us all to have fun and feel at home.

He was kind, giving, funny and most importantly a family man who cared deeply for his. He really did a wonderful job. The Jozwiak family will always be family to me.

With respect and love,
Ray Mulhall
