Frank Kolb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2019.
Frank R. Kolb, Jr., born on March 1, 1941, passed from this earth on Friday, February 22, 2019, at home in Hoover, AL. He loved the Lord and His church.

Frank is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Bankston Kolb, and his three precious sons and their families: Eric Frank Kolb, his wife Staci Forrester Kolb, and their children Savannah Kathryn, and Carson Forrester; Kyle Bankston Kolb, his wife Carrie Cagle Kolb, and their children Lilli Ann and Ila Kate; and Ivan Blake Kolb and his son James Hendry. They will dearly miss their Dad and their Papa.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank R. Kolb, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Myrick Kolb.

Frank was born in Memphis, TN, but was raised in Baton Rouge, LA. He graduated from Istrouma High School in 1959 and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He returned to Baton Rouge, married, and entered Louisiana State University graduating with a degree Electrical Engineering in 1968.

The family moved often after Frank completed school, and they met many wonderful friends along the way. Finally settling in Alabama, he was involved in his sons' athletic endeavors from coaching baseball and football to being an enthusiastic fan in the bleachers. He later excitedly watched his grandsons and granddaughter, who were talented ball players, and his granddaughters who "dance like divas." He loved them so.

There were so many friends to whom Frank loved to chat about family, doctors, and sometimes nothing in particular. He enjoyed his version of gentleman farming, especially growing tomatoes. And lately, he was particularly proud of his new endeavor - growing lemons.

There will be a private service for Frank on Saturday morning, March 2, 2019.

The family wishes to thank the many, many friends and family who have reached out to offer condolences, comfort, and support as they grieve.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Riverchase Church of Christ Live Wires in his memory.
