Shirley it saddens me to hear about Frank. I had the pleasure of working with Frank for quite a few years and within that time he was always kind and helpful and I will remember him always. May God bless you and keep you.

I first met this wonderful man back in 1984 before he and my sister formally began dating. We all worked together and my sister casually mentioned that this guy she was mentoring might be planning to ask her out, and she was a little nervous about it. Not because she didn't want to go out with him-but she is a person who gives all decisions much thought before before settling on a course of action. Long story short, the first time Frank asked her out, she said "yes". The one time I have seen her make a quick decision. I didn't know Frank well at the time, but as we got to know each other over the years, I can say he was one of the kindest, gentlest men I have ever known. His love and devotion to my sister was truly impressive. He loved lots of things, including golf, but his love of animals revealed the level of kindness in that big heart. He was generous with everyone, but especially to my mother. Frank LaGioa left his mark on this world in many ways, but most notably in the way he treated his fellow man. I will miss Frank's laugh, his smile, his joking ways. But most of all, I will miss that giant heart. Rest in peace Frank. We all love you and although we can never make her as happy as you did, will make sure your beloved Shirley is looked after.

As I jogged along the Embarcadero tonight (first time after a long hiatus) - my thoughts turned to the passing of my Uncle Frank this past week. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, brother Michael, his sister (my mother) and his mother Genevieve (my grandmother).
The beautiful San Francisco weather tonight reminded me of the lazy Illinois evenings I spent at my aunt and uncle's home as a child. I could always count on my uncle to carefully re-tell stories in his thick Chicago accent about how he became an editor at the Phoenix Gazette shortly after he graduated from Arizona State University... Or how he spent time at the Villa Venice in Northbrook, IL with Frank Sinatra, Sam Giancana and the Rat Pack during the early 60s.
I will always remember him playing classic rock singles from his immaculately kept collection of 45 rpm vinyl records - which mysteriously changed to country music classics after he met his wife. I will also never forget the random Saturday afternoon that he surprised my brothers and I by treating us to a fun-packed day at the amusement park with a new strange young lady that became his wife a year later.
Rest in peace Frank LaGioia - you will be remembered and missed.
