graduate of Jesuit High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and rose to the rank of chief boatswain mate. He was a pioneer in the cigar industry, where he worked until his passing. After the Cuban embargo, Frank and Angel Oliva were responsible for revolutionizing the cigar industry by bringing cuban seed tobacco to Central America. Frank blended the first cuban seed cigar made outside of Cuba. He was a mentor and an inspiration to many of today' s leaders in the cigar industry. Frank was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church , U.S.C.C., Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, the Cigar Association of America, the Tobacco Round Table, the Cigar Manufacturers Association of Tampa, was an initial inductee to the Cigar Aficionado Hall of Fame, the founder and chairman of Manufacturers Bank of Florida, and former director of Colonial Bank and The Bank of Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, Jose (Sr.) and Eulalia Llaneza, and siblings, Margaret, Jose and Benny Llaneza, and is survived by the love of his life, Diana, whom he married in Manague, Nicaragua, in 1954; daughters, Ruth Hudson (Rob), Mary Frances Baker (Tim), Lynette McKown (Stuart), and Carol Jean Jones (Robert); grandchildren, Robert, Diana and Phillip Hudson, Frank, Joseph, Michael and Christopher Baker, Nicole, Brant and Khalei McKown; and sister, Olga Valdes. Besides his family and cigars, his other passions were fishing in Boca Grande and the Tortugus. The family would like to give special thanks to the 5th floor north nursing staff at St. Joseph' s Hospital, especially Aurora, Alba, Shelden, Stacy and Joe. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Jesuit High School, (813) 877-5344; St. Joseph' s Hospital Foundation, (813) 870-4786; or Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Boca Grande, Fla., (941) 964-2254. A celebration of his life will take place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at St. Anthony' s Chapel, Jesuit High School, 4701 N. Himes Ave., Tampa. Please sign the online guestbook at www.

Godspeed, Frank.
Frank's blends are the ones that kept me interested in cigars over 20 years ago. Otherwise, I probably would have given up. The only cigar's that I ever actually crave.
