Dr. Frank H. McNutt Jr., 89, of Kittanning, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Frank was born Thursday, Aug. 9, 1917, in Ford City, to the late Frank H. McNutt Sr. and Edna (Klingensmith) McNutt. Dr. McNutt graduated from Ford City High School, Washington & Jefferson College, and completed his medical training at Cornell University Medical School. He then served as a captain in the Army Medical Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Following his service time, he returned to Kittanning in 1946 and started his medical practice where he practiced for over 40 years. During his career, he became innovative in both hypnosis and acupuncture. He participated in medical programs in Honduras and India, studied medicine in both China and Scotland, and was influential in starting the program of Family Medicine. He was a member of the Armstrong County Medical Society and the Armstrong County Hall of Fame. Frank is survived by three sons, Frank H. McNutt III, of Kittanning, Roberto Briceno, of New Kensington, and Robert Steven McNutt, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Marcia Brissett, of Gibsonia; friend, Robert Ware, of Ford City; five grandchildren, Johanna Brissett, Joshua Brissett, Frank H. McNutt IV, Mia Briceno and Carlos Briceno; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon Wadsworth, Cecelia Brissett, Nicholas Caruso and Coby Hornbeerger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Jane (Conner) McNutt, who died June 11, 1986; two daughters, Christine McNutt Shettle and Mary Miranda McNutt; and one son, James Steven McNutt. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Saturday in the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Kittanning. Arrangements by the WELCH FUNERAL HOME OF FORD CITY.
