Frank Moehling Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 9 to Aug. 14, 2008.
MOEHLING _ Frank Richard On August 6, 2008 Frank Richard Moehling, beloved father of Kimberly, sadly passed away in a tragic helicopter accident in Northern B.C. He was 53 years young. Frank grew up in that part of the world being born in Stewart, BC on March 12, 1955 to Irma and Richard Moehling. He grew up there with his two brothers, Peter Moehling and Harold Weiss as well an extended family including aunts, uncles and cousins. Later, Frank followed his parents, Irma and Walter Weiss, to Vernon to live. The fall of 1976 Frank entered Okanagan College in the Fine Arts Program. Here he, the artist, met Lyn, the art model, his future bride of twenty-five years. In 1977, Frank won the Consumer's Glass Scholarship. In 1984, Frank received his Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree with Distinction in bronze sculpture and in 1988 he received his Masters of Fine Arts. Frank worked with Economy Carriers for fifteen plus years both as a company driver and a lease operator. In 1989, Lyn and Frank returned to Seoul, Korea, to adopt their beloved daughter, Kimberly Rae. In 2001, Frank gave up the trucking life and settled down to be a businessman. Recently, Frank worked for Coast Mountain Geological Ltd. as a camp manager. When he was not at work, Frank loved to bike ride with Kimberly. Frank also had many friends and enjoyed their company as often as he could. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a practical man with a sharp wit but gentle heart and a helping hand. Frank Moehling was a good man and he will be dearly missed. We hope you can join us to remember Frank in the Arbor Lounge of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Friday, August 15 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial tribute may be made in Frank's name directly to the Terrace Volunteer Search and Rescue or the Alberta Foundations for the Arts. Arrangements entrusted to MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME and CEMETERY, 1605 - 100 Street S.E. (17 Avenue S.E. and Garden Road), Calgary, AB. Telephone: 403-272-5555.

I only met Frank a few years ago but we had some really fun times together. He was kind, sensitive, funny, handsome, compassionate, creative, intelligent, gentle, sweet and such a great friend to everyone who knew him.

He truly would give you the shirt off his back and do it with that great big grin on his face that could make you feel so special. He was a wonderful man with a huge heart and a free spirit.

My love and prayers go out to his family and especially his daughter, I'm so sorry for your incredible loss.

Geez Frank - why did you have to go so soon - it's just not fair. I know you go in peace though my sweetheart because you are a beautiful soul .. .I will truly miss you.

Love & light,
Cathy

Frank was a kind and generous man. He was always willing to lend a hand…often when maybe he should have taken some time off to rest! He used to say he had trouble saying ‘no’. Lucky us…having such a big hearted and compassionate man in our lives.

He bought a bell for my bike and we spent hours exploring all his favourite paths. He did love his bike. And he loved my Saskatoon Berry tarts!

He showed me a way to frame some Asian art that was breathtakingly simple - yet so elegant. I never could have done this without his quiet, yet firm guidance.

The Frank we knew and loved did not deserve this tragic ending. But we must take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit will live on forever. And although it breaks my heart to accept I will never see him again, I know that his gentle and passionate energy will walk beside me always.

Namaste my friend….

We have many fond memories of times with Frank and Lyn, Kimberley as a baby. He was a creative and gentle man, with time to appreciate life's simple pleasures. We will treasure our memories and pray his spirit will keep close.

It was with great sadness to read about Frank's tragic accident. Frank worked with me many years ago in the Seismic industry as a Mechanic and I remember him as a gentleman with a certain genius about him. I will never forget him.
Frank, you are in my prayers. Rest in Peace
