Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 11, 2022.
Mr. Frank Eugene Munn, 92, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, August, 11, 2022, at Danbury Hospital. Mr. Munn was born November 8, 1929, in Waterbury, CT, a son to his late parents Lawrence and Josephine (Carter) Munn. Frank was educated in the Waterbury Public School System graduating from Leavenworth High School. After graduating, Frank enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 where he served until receiving an honorable discharged in 1953. After serving in the military, Frank became employed at Scovill's Manufacturing, the Oakville Division, from 1953 to 1955. After his employment with Scovill's, Frank decided he wanted to open his own business. In 1955, he made his dream a reality and opened The Cherry Rest Café, which was also known as the "Skylark Lounge." The lounge stayed open until his retirement in 2005, after 50 years of being in business. Frank was active in the Waterbury community and belonged to many organizations. Frank was a founding member of The Need-Action Credit Union of Waterbury, which was established in 1960. He was the former Vice Commander of the William Wilson American Legion Post #135 of Waterbury. He was also a member of Kellogg Lodge No. 5 F.A.M. and Arabic Temple #40 and was a longtime member of Mt. Olive A.M.E Zion Church of Waterbury. Frank was very knowledgeable and would share his knowledge with anyone who would ask. He was a man of few words with a kind spirit who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Michael Brawley of Naugatuck and Philip Albea of Waterbury, one granddaughter; Michelle Torres of Naugatuck, two great grandchildren; Mekhi Williams and Ryleigh Williams both of Naugatuck, several nieces and nephews including special nephew Derek Munn; two sisters in law, Mary (Carter) Munn and Rita (Arnold) Munn, a host of cousins, extended family and friends. Frank was predeceased by five brothers, Lawrence Munn, Carter Munn, Arnold Munn, Robert "Bobby" Munn and Alford "Boo Boo" Munn; five sisters, Thelma Munn, Rita Munn, Alice Munn, Janice (Munn) Massaker and Nancy (Munn) Roberson.

Dearest "Uncle" Frank Munn's Family,
Thinking and praying for you as you Celebrate "Uncle" Frank's life. He will live on in your heart and those he touched throughout his lifetime.

"Uncle Frank" was what I grew up calling him. Very quiet... but when he spoke... Everyone listened! I am so glad that each and every time I would see him, either shopping or driving I would stop and get my hug from "Uncle" Frank

Rest In Peace in the Living Arms of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus and Family members who have gone on ahead "Uncle" Frank....
#1 Love, Always "Niece" Diane & Family
