My deepest sympathy to the entire Ranalli family.Frank was a fantastic man. I grew up in 'West" Etna but had my hair cut at Frank and Ken's barber shop in "Lower" Etna. Those were great times. I graduated from Etna High in 1965 and ,to me,the barber shop was agreat place to hang out. Frank and Ken always had nothing but good things to say about everyone. I never heard either one say a bad word about anyone. I'm a former resident of Etna and each time I came home I would stop by the shop and say hello to the guys and was saddened by Ken's passing. But,it was always good to see Frank and his smiling face and kind words. I could go on and on. There is so much more to relate about Frank I'd probably run out of space. God has another fine person at his side and I'm sure Ken is happy also. Again,my deepest sympathy to the entire Ranalli family.

My dearest Daddy!!! Your passing has put a huge hole in my heart! You were so much more than my dad, you were my friend, my partner in business, but most of all my hero!!! I was so blessed to be the daughter who got to see the lighter side of you at work, and oh boy did we smile and laugh!!! Not to many people can say they enjoyed going to work, but I certainly did! To work side by side of you was an honor for me! You taught me life's lessons, and sometimes as a teenager I had to learn the hard way, but I knew you loved me and only wanted the best for me and Laurie and Chris! As we had our children you did the same for them as you did for us! Our family meant everything to you, and you worked your fingers, legs feet etc.. to the bone, all the way up to the end! You put others needs in front of your own, your entire life! From the time you came to this country you worked for everything you had and never complained once! No matter how old we were you always had our best interest at heart! You were the most selfless man I ever knew, and a man that was so respected by everyone he came in contact with! I know you always knew how much you were loved by your family and your extended family, your customers!!!! Daddy, it was one of the hardest things to have gone through, watching you suffer and slip away in front of my eyes!!! If I could have, I would have given my life for yours!! Your life and legacy and all the good you taught us will live on through us, your grandchildren, and great grandchildren! It is now your time to rest easy daddy, your hard work is now done, and I will forever miss seeing your loving face, but I know in my heart, you are now safe and sound with God and you will forever be with me and still watching over us, as my guardian angel and I will always keep you alive in my heart, because I am part of you, and with my faith, I know I will see you again, when it's my time to go home and I know you will be there waiting with open arms!! I love you Daddy, you will always be my hero!!!!

Judy & Family,
I can only imagine what you must be feeling as a wife and daughter's, but I would like to share my perspective as one of his "customer's".
Frank has been cutting my hair for 50 years. I'm now 55/56 (I quit counting), but I started off in the booster chair and the passage into manhood was the removal of that booster chair. As a "younger man", Frank was able to relate to me as though I was is son, for better or worse, but he was always straight-forward and provided me with "tough-love" guidance.
As a 13 year-old during the early 70's, I was the morning paper boy to Frank & Ken's Barber Shop. During this period, as the song goes, my hair was long and my temper was short. I would not go into the Barber Shop for some weeks to collect money for the paper because I know I would be subjected to the "long-haired", good-natured jagging that only Frank and Ken could provide. To Frank's credit, he went to styling school to "style" hair. I think I was Frank's first, and maybe last, "style-cut" customer.
Fast-forward to me going into the Marines (after high-school), Penn State and having four children (two boy's). When my boy's (Archie & Aaron) were 4 & 5, I started to take them down to have Frank cut their hair, because I wanted them to experience the familiarity of the "barber shop" experience provided by someone who I considered as a "second father". We visited Frank for the past 20 years. While the obvious is to say he cut our hair for the past 20 years, the reality is we went to BS and by the way, he cut our hair. Whether he knew it or not, Frank was a MEMBER of every family who was his customer.
Without knowing that Frank passed away on Monday, my son who recently completed graduate school at Carnegie Mellon University, stopped by the shop on Tuesday, only to find it closed due to his passing.
So the tradition and passage has come to a sudden end. Frank was the barber for my father, myself and my two boy's and the only solace I feel from his passing, is that his principles and standards live on through myself and through my sons...

Luv 'ya man!

If I could have you back for one more day, there are so many things that I would say. And so many things I'd like to do, but most of all just spend time with you. We'd go visit places you took me when I was young like Soergel's orchards, and we'd have so much fun. I would hug you every chance that I get and tell you Pappy, please don't go yet. And at the end of the day with tears in my eyes, I'd tell you I love you and we'd say our goodbyes. Oh if only I could see you just one more time. So I can hear you tell me, "everything will be fine."

I love you Pappy! I wrote this for you!

We were so sad to hear about Frank's passing. He was a special person. He gave all my sons their first hair cuts, the youngest one at nine months. I can still see Matt's little face looking in the mirror as Frank cut his hair, and talked to him so he wouldn't be frightened. He will be truly missed. Tony and Gloria Combi

I will miss frank. When I heard the news I cried. Rest in peace.

May 29, 2014

I was with Frank two weeks ago to get a haircut. We prayed about his upcoming surgery and I really am saddened over his death. My sympathies to you Mrs. Ranalli, Denise, Laurie, Christine and the whole family. Frank was there for me when I was down and out. After a couple serious breakdowns my wife would bring me down to the barber shop and Frank would cut my hair and even trim my beard for free for we had no money. I know of him helping many more. He was an angel in the barber shop and now he is an angel up in heaven. I am in mourning cause a truly good friend has died but someday I know I will see him again and he will give me a haircut in heaven. I love Frank.......Mike Shearer
