Frank Scott Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 4, 2025.
Frank Pride Scott age 91, of Morristown Tennessee, passed away on 08/03/2025 following an abundantly blessed life.

Frank was a native of Alabama, born in Greenville and grew up in Uniontown. He graduated from Gulf Coast Military Academy and Auburn University. At Auburn, he was a member of the NROTC Drill Team, Scabbard and Blade Military Honorary society as well as the PHI Delta Theta social fraternity.

Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the Navy and served four years on active duty at the end of the Korean War. Later, as a reservist, he served as Commanding Officer of the Ashville NC Naval Reserve Unit.

Frank was raised in the Presbyterian Church and served the Lord in three different congregations as a Deacon, Elder and Adult Sunday School Leader. Later in life, he chose to separate himself from the organized Church, but never lost his love for the Lord nor his faith in the Almighty.

Following his active military service, Frank was employed by American Enka Corporation as an Industrial Engineer in the Rayon Filament Plant at Lowland, Tennessee. During his thirty-one-year career with Enka and their subsequent owners Akzona and BASF, he held various management positions including Plant Manager of the Nylon Plant at Enka, NC and Plant Manager of the Synthetic Filament Plant at Lowland. At the time of his retirement, he was General Manager of the three BASF Lowland Plants.

Frank was active in his community serving at various times on the boards of SunTrust Bank (Hamblen County), Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce, Child and Family Services, Walters State Community College Foundation, HC*Excell, Junior Achievement, Friends of Hospice, and Keep America Beautiful. He thoroughly enjoyed his work with these groups including serving as Treasurer for several of the non-profits.

In retirement he was an avid golfer, especially enjoying his participation with the East Tennessee Seniors Golf Association where he was pleased to make many new friends and acquaintances.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother and father; Gertrude Pride Scott Eskew and Chester Kirkpatrick Scott, brother; Kirk Scott, first wife; Shirley Poellnitz Scott (the mother of his children), and his stepfather; Dr. Milner H. Eskew.

He is survived by his devoted wife Ronnie, whose loving care added years to his life; children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly and was so very proud of; daughters; Carrie (Peter) Gronbeck, Jeanette (Mike) Ray, Marie (James) Long; stepson Steven (Jessica) Hall; grandchildren, Katie Gronbeck (Dustin) Newcombe, John Gronbeck, Matthew and Jackson Ray, Kelli Webb, Samantha and Ian Hall; stepsister, Augusta Drinkard; sister in law; Anne Barnard, as well as nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Alder Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka-Candler, North Carolina on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 3:00 pm located at 1 Chapel of Faith Drive, Candler, N.C. 28715 with Rev.
