Frank Tully Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 1, 2011.
Frank L.Tully, born February 12, 1921, went home to be with his Lord February 27, 2011 at the age of 90. He was born in Detroit, Mi., and the first son of Frank Love Tully and Elsie (Blakely) Tully. His family moved to Alabama for a number of years and there he graduated from the University of Alabama. After graduation he worked as a purchasing agent for Fruehauf Trucking Company until he felt the call from God to enter the Christian ministry. In preparation for the ministry, he attended Oberlin Seminary and Vanderbilt. He faithfully served as a minister for over 25 years in the United Methodist Church in the North East Ohio Conference. He served churches at Winona U.M.C., Rootstown U.M.C., Bunker Hill U.M.C. and St. Paul's U.M.C. in Tiffin, Ohio.
Frank was a man of humor and compassion. He will be remembered by many for his jokes. Children in his congregations were fascinated with a trick he did of "taking off his thumb." He often whistled or sang and one woman remarked that she wished she had that man's spirit.
He met and married his first wife, Ann Dunn, and became the beloved step-father and Gramps to Ann's grandchildren. He and Ann traveled to Europe and Israel. After he retired from the ministry, they moved to Lakeside, Ohio. Shortly after, Ann died.
After several years, he married Lenore Drennen. Frank and Lenore lived at Lakeside until they moved to West Farmington, OH. They attended the Parkman Congregational Church where Frank assisted in many of the ministries. Even though he was retired, he continued to share his love for the Lord and the necessity of accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Although he never had any children of his own, he was a wonderful and much loved father and grandfather to the Dunn and Drennen families. He leaves a number of adult children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Elsie Tully, his brothers': Julian and Allen, first wife Ann, and second wife Lenore. All of our lives have been greatly enriched by knowing and loving Frank. He will be missed but we rejoice that he has run the good race and now is with his Heavenly Father.
Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St, Ravenna, on Friday, March 4, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM and from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral service on Saturday, March 5, at the at the Rootstown United Methodist Church, 4065 St. Rt. 44, Rootstown. The service will be led by Pastor Rod Edwards and Pastor Phillip Raynes.

Halloween 1991 Grandpa Tulley gave my daughter's pumpkins to collect their candy trick or treating. Well I always carry the potty chair because my youngest daughter wouldn't use a public bathroom. So I told her to place the candy in a bag and she had to use her pumpkin as a potty. Frank was a very nice man. He was very funny and a very loving Person. He knows when he sees this from heaven. Love you always. Grandpa Tulley

I will always remember Rev. Tully's passionate sermons that both convicted me of my sin and gave me hope in Jesus over 40 years ago at the Rootstown Methodist Church. Well done good and faithfull servant.

My family adored Rev.Tully. We will remember him fondly for his dedication to the Lord and family, also his delightful sense of humor.I remember his guidance at Rootstown UMC, when I was a teen. We will remember how he cherished Ann and Lenore. We always chuckle when we recall the day he and Lenore exchanged wedding vows: the fire sirens blared just before he said "I do". Frank blushed and declared this was NOT one of his pranks. Guess the Lord thought it was fitting for the occassion!!! Rest in peace, you are in good company and can share onery pranks
with my Dad,Jim Dial,Sr.
