Frank VOSS Obituary

Published by Regina Leader-Post on Jul. 4, 2013.
VOSS, Frank George
May 22, 1933 – July 2, 2013
Frank passed away suddenly at home on July 2, 2013 after his weak heart beat its last at the age of 80 years. He was predeceased by his parents Frank Peter and Victoria (Horvath) Voss; sisters Helen, Julia and Eva; and brother John. Frank is survived by his loving wife Cecilia; children Pauline, Shelley (Mark), Marvin (Maureen), Audrey (Shawn) and Faron (Kim); grandchildren Leonard, Jeffrey, Stephanie, April, Amber, Jesse, Brayden and Regan; three great grandchildren; plus many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Frank was born on the family farm northeast of Cupar, SK and enjoyed a happy childhood filled with many family, friends and neighbours. He loved the farm life and spoke of it many times throughout his life. In 1955 Frank married Cecilia Bereti and moved to Regina in 1956 where he worked for the Saskatchewan Department of Government Services for 32 years as a carpenter, taking pride in his work, which can still be found in many government buildings throughout the province today. His largest contribution was the refinishing of the oak work and carvings, including the Speakers Dais in the Saskatchewan Legislature Chamber in 1978. Frank was a family man taking joy in family gatherings and in the togetherness of family. He maintained that a family should eat together at least one meal a day, particularly on Sunday. Being of Hungarian heritage, Frank was an excellent natural cook and could produce any meal he tasted on his travels, in addition to his legendary cabbage rolls and famous 'papa (chicken) soup'. He had a natural talent for wood working and could fix anything. In the last ten years of his life, heart disease and kidney failure contributed to limit his life more each year as the diseases progressed, resulting in hemodialysis for the past two years. Frank was a man of faith and knew one day, he would meet the Lord Jesus to live eternally in Heaven, with his family members and friends which he missed so dearly. A PRAYER VIGIL will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. A FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated at Holy Cross Parish, 315 Douglas Avenue East, Regina, SK on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Very Reverend Brad Fahlman officiating. The family would like to thank Drs. Karunakaran, Gebhardt, Tsang, Sultan, Bhagaloo and Cowan and the many nurses and staff at the RGH Renal Unit. Those so wishing may make a donation in memory of Frank to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8 or Kidney Foundation of Canada, Regina Chapter, 1545C McAra Street, Regina, SK S4N 6H4 or a charity of your choice. Our deepest sympathy to the Voss family. My father, Ernest, was a long time co-worker and always held Frank in high esteem. I trust the two carpenters are now happily building together again.
