Frank Stephen Wegent, 67, of Maylene, AL, passed away Friday morning, November 29, 2019. The Birmingham, AL native was a loyal husband and loving father known for his outgoing personality, quick wit, and passionate work ethic. After graduating from John Carroll Catholic High School, "Frank" studied art at Jefferson State Community College. He enjoyed a long career in grocer management, including over 30 years with Bruno's and 17 years with Piggly Wiggly. Frank's favorite pastimes included Alabama Crimson Tide football, tennis, and NASCAR. He was an accomplished artist, specializing in sketch, pencil, and watercolor. While living in Selma AL, Frank served on the board of directors for the Salvation Army, and was president of the local Civitan Club, a Volunteer with the Dallas County Junior Miss Pageant, and president of the Selma Quarterback Club. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Rose M. Finocchio Wegent and Sam Stephen Wegent. Survivors include Frank's loving wife of 45 years, Debra "Deb" Lovoy Wegent; two sons, Patrick Guaggenti (Lauren) and Sammy Wegent (Melinda); two sisters, Rosanne W. Fowler (Ronnie) and Nellie W. Waits (Jessie); sister-in-law, Paula Bunn (Greg); brothers-in-law, Phil Lovoy (Denisa) and Jody Lovoy; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo, AL, immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at the church. Father Ray Dunmyer will officiate. Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, AL. The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.

Frank will live in our memories as a wonderful father, husband and neighbor. I am so grateful that I got to meet him at Sammy's wedding and other family occasions -- his warmth and generous spirit will live on in all of us.
