Conrad, Franklin Frank Conrad, 83 years old and a resident of Baton Rouge, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, while visiting with his family in Montana. He was retired from Ethyl Corp. after 37 years as a chemist, having received his degree from Wooster College in Ohio and later his Ph.D. from Ohio State University. Frank served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He married Thelma I. Baer, also of Ohio, and moved to the Louisiana he loved in 1951. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Thelma Conrad; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Stephanie Conrad of Memphis, Tenn.; three daughters, Rita Conrad of Hillsborough, N.C., and Cinda Prinz and Liza and husband David Milner, all of Baton Rouge; and grandchildren, Rebecca Zupan and husband Darren, Jennifer Conrad, Jason Milner and Christine Bertrand and husband Justin and their two sons. The family held a funeral service in Orrville, Ohio (near his hometown) on Thursday, Aug. 18. There will be a memorial visitation for friends on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., with a tribute to Frank offered at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Frank be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, 4950 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, Attn: Developmental Office.
