Franklin Delano Roosevelt Reese Franklin Delano Roosevelt Reese, age 71, was born February 14, 1939 in Eastover, South Carolina, to the parents of Simon Reese and Julia Johnson Reese. He made his transition on Friday, October 22, 2010. Franklin graduated from C.A. Johnson High School in Eastover. He then joined the U.S. Army where he served for six years. Franklin was employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center as an electrician for 25 years until his retirement in 2001. Franklin leaves to forever cherish his memory, his loving, devoted wife, Mary Harris-Reese; loving daughter; Rochelle Darlene Taylor, Gurnee, IL; one son, Steven F. Reese of Waukegan, IL; two step-sons: André DeJuan Harris, of Zion, IL; DeMar Anthony (Jessica) Harris of Waukegan, IL; two sisters: Margaret (Robert) McEachin Cheatham, Joan Lloyd and one brother, Willie James (Gloria) Reese, all of Columbia South Carolina; two grandchildren: Yesinia Reese and Jonathan Thomas Taylor of Gurnee, IL and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Beatrice Evans. Franklin was a faithful member of Shalem Seventh Day Adventist Church in Waukegan, IL, where he served in numerous positions of ministry, including the Deacon's Board, The Christian Fellowship League, and the Illinois Adventist Prison Ministry Organization. He was lovingly known as the "fruit man" for his years of selling fruit throughout the community in support of Christian Education. Franklin was also acknowledged by the American Red Cross and received a certificate of appreciation for having donated over 20 units of blood. He not only won souls for Christ but donated the "blood of life". A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Shalem Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1105 Pine Street, Waukegan, IL. Pastor Richard Sylvester, Officiating. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 9:00 A.M.
