FRED C. E. ABERNATHY May 30,1942-June 2, 2007 Fred Abernathy was born in Portland, Oregon and resided in the Camas/Washougal area for the past 41 years. He and his wife, Shirley spent nine of those years in Biloxi, Mississippi. Fred was well respected in the field of Industrial Fiberglass Construction, his career spanned 44 years and he retired in 2003. He also served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1966-1968. Fred is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shirley, two sisters, Lyddyia Williams of Sylacauga, Alabama and Connie McAdams of Canby, Oregon, one brother, Bruce Abernathy of Vancouver, Wash., a half sister, Christine Abernathy of Wyoming, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred wished to be cremated and to have his ashes scattered in the woods which he loved so much. Fred enjoyed camping, hunting and traveling. A memorial service will be held at the First Church of God, 3300 N.E. 78th St., Hazel Dell, on June 15, 2007 at 2:00 PM. A pot luck reception will follow. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to Hospice Southwest, P.O. Box 1600, Vancouver, WA 98668.
