Dear Jane,
We were so saddened to hear of Fred's death. We know it must have been a terrible shock to you and your family.
We haven't seen him in years but we have only lovely memories of that dear, sweet man.
The first time I remember meeting him came down to attend our wedding in Virginia in 1963. I remember my parents saying how much they enjoyed meeting and talking with him, and he was their favorite of all of Russ's Harvard friends.
One of our favorites occurred when we were driving across country after Russ got out of the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, in 1965. We decided to give Fred a call as we were driving through St. Louis and perhaps have lunch with him. Lunch turned out to be staying at his little apartment which he insisted upon (whilst he stayed somewhere else) and we ended up spending three wonderful days with him, touring, meeting his friends, and having so much fun.
What a warm, generous man he was. We saw him a few times when he would come back to Massachusetts. It was always a treat to be with him.
Please know you are in are thoughts and that we were all the better for knowing him.
With deepest sympathy,
H-T and Russ Donnelly

My deepest sympathy to the family. Fred was a childhood friend as we grew up in Mexico, MO. In our high school days Fred and I loved to discuss many different things from opposing views. We had some great times in Betty Baker's class. He was a great friend and I always enjoyed seeing him at Class Reunions. He will be missed by many.
