Fred Dallas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 10, 2018.
Fred Wayne Dallas, a pastor at Second Baptist Church and resident of Kingwood, TX, passed away at his home after a hard-fought battle with cancer on October 10, 2018 at the age of 68.

Fred is survived by his wife, Laura Dallas; his children, Marshall Dallas, his spouse Nicole and their children Olivia and Levi, and Katherine Alldredge and her spouse Mark Alldredge and their children Briana, Serenity and Alexander; his parents, David and Inez Dallas and his sisters, Carolyn Dallas and her children Jesse and Amanda and Debra Dallas and her children Trey and Caitlyn .

Fred was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina on September 7, 1950 to David and Inez Dallas. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Geology in 1975. It was there that he met his wife Laura McCarty and they were married in Nacogdoches, TX on August 9th, 1975. Fred and Laura then moved to Mill Valley, California where Fred attended and graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Seminary with a Masters in Divinity in 1978. During his studies there, he served in his first ministry position as an associate pastor and youth director under Pastor Milton Steck at Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville, California. Upon graduation, Fred took his first pastorate at Hesperus Baptist Church in Hespress, Colorado.

In 1980 Fred and Laura were appointed as missionaries by the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention beginning in the Canary Islands of Spain. From there Fred, Laura and their children moved all over Spain, then to Norway and finally to Germany where Fred served in a regional role overseeing 17 countries from Greece to Estonia in Central and Eastern Europe. Throughout his service with the IMB, Fred traveled to many other countries sharing the message of God's salvation in Jesus Christ. He also served as an International Sports Chaplain at 6 Summer Olympic Games ('88, '92, '96, '08, '12, '16) and 2 Winter Olympic Games ('94, '14). More recently Fred served as a founding member of Isaiah's Response 6:8 (IR 6:8), a missions organization that has sent people all over the globe.

In the year 2000, Fred returned to the United States to serve as a minister of Pastoral Care. He spent the last 18 years serving the people of Second Baptist Church's North Campus in that capacity.

A celebration of life service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on October 15 at Second Baptist Church's North Campus in Kingwood, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to IR 6:8 at ir68.org.

Fred and Chuck Oak were instrumental in leading us into five-plus years of missionary service in China. We will never forget their support and encouragement. May you rest in peace, dear Brother. We look forward to seeing you on the other side. Alan and Ann Payne
