Fred M. Durst, son of Rev. Clarence Calvin Durst and Anna Mae Crowe Durst, born June 9, 1931 in Wadestown, West Virginia, died peacefully May 19, 2014 in Cape Coral, Florida. Mr. Durst was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Edith Hoop, Ray Durst, Glenn Durst and Betty Jean Durst. Mr. Durst is survived by his loving wife Dolores 'Dee' Durst, her daughter Debbie Ignaszak and husband Paul, and his sons Jeff Rider-Durst and wife Patricia, Fredrick Durst and wife Marcy Sherry, Stephen Durst and wife Lisa and Timothy Durst and wife Suzanne. Mr. Durst is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Hayes, Heather Melendez, Chris Rider, Stephen Durst, Jr., Alexander Durst, Michael Durst, Tyler Durst, Timothy James Durst, Christopher Durst, and many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Mr. Durst was a star high school basketball player, proud retired Air Force veteran, steelworker, private pilot, tenacious union official, sailor, avid landscaper, and entrepreneur. A visitation will be at McComas Funeral Home in Abingdon, Friday May 23, 2014 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. Funeral will be Saturday, May 24 at 11 am at Fallston United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Maryland, 1107 Kenilworth Drive, Suite 202, Baltimore, MD 21204.
