I will miss my cousin Fred. He took a man as he was and only judged me for the way he saw me no matter what anyone said. He always had a good word of encouragement to add with his keen sense of humor. I will miss the stories he always had to tell, and the funny situations that he had been in throughout his life. From his younger days with my Grandfather, or his time in Alaska building the Alaskan Highway. To his life later on in Silver Ridge trading guns, and running the store with Iva. I'll never forget those days. I feel like a better man for having known Fred Goodwin.

My condolences goes out to the whole Goodwin family during this time of your loss. I never got to meet Fred personally, but read many articles about him, his tales, and his love of hunting and the Maine outdoors. I never forget the article of "The Silver Ridge Buck" in Outdoor life many years ago. A true Maine legend....you will be missed by many...RIP my good man.

You were an amazing uncle, always laughing and joking about your memories. You loved to share stories with all of your nieces and nephews and had a smile on your face everyday. We will miss you greatly but we know you're in a better place now. You'll have lots of people to play cribbage with up in Heaven. I love you Uncle Fred and you'll forever be in my prayers.

Fred was a real mentor to me in the early 80's. One Fine Man... He shared with me once that the reason Silver Ridge bucks had such big horns was because of the acid rain coming from Ohio. Fred said that that rain just kinda swept over until it hit Silver Ridge, then rained on those deer, and those horns just grew and grew. He was one catty gun man. He will be missed.
My condolances to Iva and the family.

Time just seems to move effortlessly on....don't even need to be having a good time, it just moves on with or without us. I should hope to be as blessed as Uncle Fred to live this long. The only alternative to this is dying young...who wants to do that?! This man's legacy will stand forever in time. And that, my friends, is something we should all strive to have built. He was a trip....he was always, "fine and dandy. Fine as frog's hair, split four ways!" RIP.

Life was better for me just for knowing you. You always were a square shooter with me and back in the eighties when I was a single father you were a lifesaver at times with cash, no collateral and never charging any interest. I never forgot you doing that for me. Rest in Peace old friend.

You always had an "eagles eye", Fred. Now, your soul can fly like an eagle's! It's your turn to soar now, in perfect freedom.

FGOHGM. Fred was a unique individual. His home was always open to everyone no matter the time of day or night. Whether trading for some old rattle trap or cobblin up a gun (or anything else) for sale many days, nights, and into the wee hours of the morning listening to all his hunting stories as well as stories of all his other adventures were always a treat.
The vacancy sign left at his table won't be replaced. A sad day for us but I bet he's having the time of his new life catching up with those gone before. C.G.
