Fred HOCHACHKA Obituary
On October 17, 2012, Fred Hochachka of Edmonton, AB passed away at the age of 78 years.
Fred is survived and remembered by his wife of 51 years, Verna; daughters, Leah and Kathy; son, Gene (JodiLynne); sister, Nadia; sister-in-law, Brenda; Aunt Nancy Roberts; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was predeceased by parents, Reverend Wasily and Paraskevia; sisters, baby Mary, Mary, Olga and Stephanie; and brothers, Julian, John, Peter and Vladimir.
The Hochachka family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at the Cross Cancer Institute for the superb care they provided Fred.
Requiem will be held Sunday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Barbara's Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 10105 - 96 Street, Edmonton.
Divine Liturgy and Funeral Service Monday, October 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Barbara's Russian Orthodox Cathedral. Archpriest Sergey Kipriyanovich officiating with interment to follow in St. Mary's Russo-Greek Orthodox Church (Shishkovtzy) Cemetery on Range Road 182, North of Township Road 534. Verna and Family:
We were very saddened to hear of Fred's death. He was a true gentleman - considerate, compassionate, understanding, honest, and a devoted family man. It was honour to call him a friend. We will miss him very much.

I quietly reflect on the many years I have known Fred as a friend and advisor to our family. He will be remembered as caring, witty, good natured with a mischevious sparkle in his eyes even during the challenges of illness in his later years.

I first met Fred in 1963 when I was articling to Hansen,Joyce & Ross. He was a kind man of exceptional intelligence and a good sense of humour. Please accept my condolences.
