Fred Walter Kozik, 82, of Westmont, IL passed away on June 21, 2023 at Hinsdale Hospital.

Fred was born on August 14, 1940, in Chicago, IL to John and Sophie (Sezcinski) Kozik. Fred was the eighth child of eight siblings. He was married in 1967 to Frances (Wilkosz). In 1971 they moved to Westmont, IL from Chicago, IL.

Fred was a United States Army Veteran. After his service time, he worked for Strickland Freight, American Freight, and USF Holland Freight as a member of the Teamsters Union Local 710. He later received his certification as a Heating & Air Conditioning Technician and worked for Montgomery Wards. Fred retired in 2005. Fred enjoyed fishing, camping, and all types of outdoor activities.

Fred was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3738 and a 4th Degree of the LaSalle Assembly.

Fred was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. Edward (Tosi) Kozik, Loraine (Howard) Keller, Henry (Jeanette and the Late Dorothy Kerulis) Kozik, Lucille Ferfecki, Dolores (Frank) Keller, MaryAnn (John) Zmuda, Frank (Judy) Kozik.

He was a brother- in-law to the late Leo (Carol) Wilkosz and Marcia Thias. He had many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Frances and his son Frederick.

A Memorial Mass for Fred will be held at 10:00 am, July 8th, 2023 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church located at 1S314 Summit Avenue, Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois 60181.

Interment service will be held on a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery located at 20953 West Hoff Road, Elwood, Illinois 60421.

Dear Kozik Family,

The Knights of Columbus St. John Council 3738 (Westmont, IL) express their deepest sympathy on the passage of Brother Knight Fred into eternal life. The council will include him in in its prayers for repose of the soul.
