Fred Duane Schindler

Fred was a gift from God to his parents on July 6,1939, who were living in Ft. Collins, Colorado. He left this earth after 83 years to be with his precious Lord Jesus on December 1, 2022, after an extended illness at Oroville Hospital, Oroville, California.

He is such a wonderful person, a little crazy at times and mostly funny. Fred was so loved by his family and friends with a deep concern for each person's life he touched. Those dearest to his heart that proceeded him in death were his Grandmother Paulina Schindler, his father and mother, Walter Fred and Julia Mae Schindler. His beloved sister Janet Barr, brother Leslie Schindler. He is also proceeded in death by his niece Debbie Shaddix and nephew Gene Barr.

Fred is survived by his ex-wife Elva Schindler (August 18,1962-1992), From their marriage Elva and Fred had three (3) wonderful children. Their daughters Sheryl Burdine (Schindler), Karen Touchet, son Paul Schindler.

Fred had the privilege of having six (6) Grandchildren: Grandsons, Dylan Burdine, Nathan Schindler and Connor Touchet. Granddaughters, Monique Burdine, Hannah Schindler and Lily Touchet.

Fred had an abiding relationship with His Nephew Dan Schindler, Dan's wife Debra Schindler and their three daughters, Briana McKnight, Alyssa Schindler, and Lexi Schindler.

The questions is how does one memorialize a man that lived 83 years in a few sentences? The best way to begin is with his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. After graduating from Westminster High school, Westminster, Colorado in 1959, Fred entered the United States Air Force and shortly after accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal savior. From then on he lived for Christ in the best way he knew how in intercessory prayer for family. Over the years we saw family member after family member come to faith in Jesus. No words can say enough, so simply stated thank you dear Fred for your commitment and dedication, as well as hundreds of hours on your knees pleading our case before the Lord.

Fred was a Boy Scout growing up and out of a long-term relationship with his best friend, Danny Whitmore, they started an Indian lore group with some 50 Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Fred and Danny were both 16 years old. In the four years that followed the Westatoo Indian Dancers performed in multitudes of venues, including the famous Red Rock Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado, St Patrick's Parades, the Denver Coliseum and dozens of Boy Scout meetings. Lives were changed for the better in those days for those young men. Thanks Fred, I was one of them.

He delivered newspaper for the Rocky Mountain News.

He loved his 1950 Ford and 55' Chevy convertible.

He also loved to fly, owning several airplanes including his 3/4 biplane Stearman. He actually had his own small airport in Strasburg, Colorado.

While in the US Air Force, Fred felt a call to go into the ministry, enrolling in Bethany Bible College, Santa Cruz, California.

He and Elva then became the directors of Global Youth Evangelism in the Santa Cruz mountains along with his brother Frank and wife Sandy as his assistant.

Later Elva and Fred moved back to Colorado and built a home for their growing family in Strasburg, Colorado. Over the years, Fred was able to reside with his daughter Sheryl, son Paul and Heather and then spent 10 years with Dan and Debra Schindler.

In early 2020 Fred began building a relationship with longtime friend Beverly Smith in Oroville, California. Soon after their love grew and grew, and they became engaged.

There was such a love between them that only God could orchestrate. Beverly was there for him throughout his illness up until the time of his death on December 1, 2022 at the Oroville Hospital. Thank you, Beverly, for your abiding love for our brother Fred, you were there for all of us when we couldn't be. God bless you sweet woman of God.

Fred, thank you for all your love and tears for us, your family and friends will miss you until we meet in the presence of our King Jesus. We love you, brother Fred.
