Fred Seaman Obituary

SEAMAN – Fred R. II, 64, Hopewell, formerly of Portage, passed away Oct. 18, 2009, at his son's home surrounded by his family. Born Jan. 9, 1945, in Johnstown, son of Fred R. and Margaret (Morrow) Seaman Jones. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Peggy Lou Martin; and stepfather, George E. Jones. Survived by wife, Shirley (Siebielec) Seaman; son, Fred R. Seaman III, Portage; and daughter, Maj. Robin Woody, and husband, CW4 Charles Woody, Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Kelsey, Alyssa and Jarrett Seaman; and Kirstin, CJ, Zachary and Jordan Woody. Brother of Sally, wife of Thomas Cehelnik, Pittsburgh; and Patricia, wife of Don Rakar, Portage. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews. U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Era. Retired coal miner from Bethlehem Mine 33. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman and hunting and fishing, and a mentor to his children and grandchildren. At Fred's request, there was no viewing, but, the family and friends did celebrate a memorial service at 6 p.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Long officiating. Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home, Portage, is serving the Seaman family.

Shirley,
We are deeply saddened to hear of Fred's passing. We will miss him very much at camp. It was always great to talk with him...he had so much knowledge of the outdoors that with every conversation you could learn something new. We are keeping you & your family in our prayers.
