Dear Fred, what a wonderful teacher you were. I was fortunate enough to perhaps have seen yet another side of you the year I was the pres of the student rep council at Campbell in '73-74 and you were our faculty advisor. How wise you were and how much you taught all of us. Not just social studies but life. Your example made it easy for me to spend most of my life as a university teacher. I hope I was able to give some of what you gave us back. XXOO

We just received a copy of the service folder from a mutual friend today and were advised of what a touching and personal service it was.
Carol, you have been in our thoughts and prayers these last two months. We will fondly recall our engaging conversations with Fred and are thankful for the many friends who are gathered about you now and will continue to bless you in the days to come.

He made the world a better place for lots of people- how many can say that?
My life would have been a lot poorer without Fred Caswell- my home room teacher at Campbell in '69. He had the patience of Job (and a great sense of humour!) as he put up with all the pranks me and my buddy Dale Bassendowski put him through- "Casswell for Mayor" posters, "Just Married" with shoes etc on his car...he put up with a lot.... so we both appreciated him enormously. I'm so glad he lived such a full and happy life- he got the physical heart transplant that he needed, but his other 'heart' was always just great ! He is missed- condolences to all who miss him.

I was saddened to see this. Mr. Casswell taught me at Sheldon Williams. I will never forget his sense of humor and the endless stories he could tell. He made his class so much fun. Deepest condolences to his family.

I was a teacher at Robert Usher and I worked with Fred for several years there. We shared so many laughs working together in the library. I always chuckle when I think of Fred's crazy sense of humour, and his amazing talent at drawing. We shared a love of music -- Stan Rogers and The Eagles. Thanks for the joy, Fred. My deepest condolences to Carole and family.

One of the best teachers I've had. He spoke to the heart. He reached us. Real life lessons that taught us something in the world that we could use. Honest straight forward man. One of the only people who sat me down and told me to my face I am wasting my potential. And he saw. And even though we all failed history. He still passed us. He said you should always care about history because it is where we all come from. I loved this man like a grandfather. I hope he finds peace and I'll see him in the next life for a drink.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Fred for many years now, but the last four is where I learned most. Many days and evenings both Fred and Carol and I would visit. We'd laugh, eat and share stories and discuss philosophies. He was a true friend, a kind soul and loving husband to Carol. I will miss those lovely evening visits with you and Carol. We know you're looking over us with lots of love and, we will think of you often. Cheers to a wonderful man and colleague.

What do you say about Mr. Casswell? He was truly one of the best teachers I ever had. He was firm but fair (and rather humorous) and I believe a very compassionate person.
RIP Mr. Caz. Thank you for all the years you dedicated to so many young people; you did make a difference!

Section 41, Row 1, Seats 13 and 14 just are not the same knowing we are not sitting together again. We had a lot of chuckles teaching together and watching the Riders. He was sort of like family to a lot of us, so condolences to everyone whose lives he touched and especially to Carol.

Mr. Casswell was one of my favorite teachers. (Campbell Collegiate) When Abbey Road was first released he played it to us in class...he was so cool! I have thought of him throughout my life because of his teachings. He was a real class act. Thanks Fred, rest in paradise!
