Frederick Jolly Sr., a beloved father, entrepreneur, and member of the Gary, Indiana community, passed away on July 19, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on September 9, 1956, in Boligee, Alabama, Fred was the 10th of 11 children born to a devoted homemaker and a hardworking sharecropper. His early life was shaped by the strong values of resilience, family, and faith that would stay with him throughout his journey.Drawn north by the steel mill boom, Fred made his home in Gary, Indiana, where he quickly put down roots and made a name for himself. Though he arrived with the intent to labor, his ambition led him down the path of entrepreneurship. He became a cornerstone of Gary's nightlife scene, founding and operating beloved establishments such as The Livingroom and Jolly's Lounge.Fred had an unmistakable zest for life. Whether hosting a packed lounge on a Friday night, or cruising through the city .He was a proud father to several children, each of whom carries a piece of his strength, charisma, and entrepreneurial spirit. In his later years, Fred found enduring companionship with Roslyn "Candy" Bell, his long-time partner with whom he shared decades of love, laughter, and support.He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, extended family, dear friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his generosity, wisdom, and unwavering spirit.Rest easy, Fred.
